The summer festival dedicated to the mountain white peach, an IGP-certified excellence of the Sicani Mountains
The PescaBivona IGP Festival is the most important event in Bivona, a small town in the Sicani Mountains in the province of Agrigento, in the heart of mountainous Sicily. Every year in August, the town's historic center transforms into a sprawling stage dedicated to its agricultural pride: the white-fleshed peach known as pescabivona or montagnola, a fruit that earned the European IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) status in 2014.
The cool mountain climate, abundant water, and the skilled work of local farmers have created the thriving peach orchards surrounding Bivona. The pescabivona is distinguished by its velvety, fragrant skin and its dense, juicy, cream-white flesh with reddish hues, offering a sweet and slightly aromatic flavor. During the festival, the fruit is served fresh, in fruit salads, tarts, artisanal ice creams, and even in savory dishes that highlight its delicate taste.
The festival offers a rich and varied program that enlivens the town's streets and squares: free tastings of the peach and its derivatives, an exhibition village featuring local farms and artisans, show-cooking and wine tastings with guest chefs and sommeliers, art exhibitions, and guided tours.
More than just a gastronomic feast, the PescaBivona Festival is an opportunity to promote local agriculture, rural traditions, and the beauty of the Sicani Mountains. Admission to all events is free, set against a backdrop that combines authentic flavors, music, and Sicilian hospitality.
The 2026 edition of the PescaBivona IGP Festival is confirmed for Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, once again in the historic center of Bivona. This marks the 39th edition of one of the longest-running and most beloved food and wine festivals in the Agrigento area.
This year, the festival will feature its usual structure: free tastings of the pescabivona and its derivatives, an exhibition village with agricultural and artisan companies, show-cooking and wine tastings, performances by drummers and folk groups, itinerant parades, activities for children, and evening shows in the town squares.
The detailed 2026 program, including guest names and schedules, has not yet been published: it will be released by the organizers on the website and official channels in the weeks preceding the event.
Bivona is located in the mountainous hinterland of the province of Agrigento, in the Sicani Mountains. By car, it can be reached via the SS118 (Corleonese-Agrigentina); the nearest airport is Palermo, about an hour and a half away. The most convenient train station is Agrigento, from which you can continue by bus or car.
Access to all festival events is free.
Events take place in the historic center: it is advisable to park at the town entrance and continue on foot. In summer, evenings can be cool due to the altitude: bring a light sweater for the evening concerts.
