A festival celebrating new wine

The Saint Martin's Festival in Cianciana, located in the heart of the Agrigento province, is one of the most cherished autumn events in this small village of the Sicani Mountains. Organized by the Pro Loco of Cianciana APS with the support of the Municipality, the event is tied to the feast of Saint Martin on November 11th, when, according to rural tradition, the must completes its transformation into wine. The Sicilian proverb "At Saint Martin's, every must becomes wine" perfectly captures the spirit of the evening.

The Convent Cloister, the setting for the evening

The festival takes place in the evocative setting of the Convent Cloister, one of the most characteristic spots in Cianciana, which comes alive in the evening with long tables, aromas, and conviviality. The intimate atmosphere of the cloister makes the event a gathering point for the entire community, with a special focus on rediscovering the flavors and habits of the past.

Traditional flavors

The heart of the festival is the tasting of new wine, accompanied by specialties of Sicilian peasant cuisine. Among the products you can enjoy:

• Lu pani cunzatu, bread seasoned with oil, cheese, and simple local ingredients
• Local olives and cheese
• Sfinge (sfincia), the fried pastry typical of the Sicilian Saint Martin tradition
