The celebration of Raffadali PDO Pistachio, blending Sicilian flavor, culture, and tradition
The Fastuca Fest is the grand celebration that brings the town of Raffadali, in the province of Agrigento, to life every September. 'Fastuca' is the local dialect term for pistachio, which has been cultivated here for generations. The festival honors the Raffadali PDO Pistachio, a Protected Designation of Origin product nicknamed the 'emerald' of the Sicani for its intense color and unmistakable flavor.
For four days, the historic center of Raffadali turns into a vast open-air trail. The heart of the event is the Taste Trail, featuring dozens of local producers offering pistachio-based confectionery and gastronomic delights, from traditional sweets to creative culinary innovations. Alongside the tastings, the program includes:
The Raffadali PDO Pistachio is a jewel of Sicilian agribusiness. Grown on the clay hills of the Sicani Mountains, it is prized for its quality and sustainable production. The Fastuca Fest, organized by the Fastuca Association in partnership with the Consortium for the Protection of Raffadali PDO Pistachio, was created to promote this product and its entire supply chain, offering visitors an experience that blends gastronomy, culture, and slow tourism.
Over the years, the Fastuca Fest has become a regional landmark, drawing thousands of visitors to Raffadali. The event is part of the broader context of the Sicily Region as a land of festivals and gastronomic traditions, engaging with the Agrigento territory and its treasures, from the Valley of the Temples to the villages of the Sicani. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of the convivial and welcoming Sicilian village feast.
The Fastuca Fest 2026 is expected in Raffadali (Agrigento) this September, with dates indicated by local sources for September 17-20, 2026. At the moment, the organizers, the Fastuca Association and the Consortium for the Protection of the Raffadali PDO Pistachio, have announced that the program for this edition is still 'work in progress'.
As per tradition, the 2026 edition is expected to bring back the Taste Trail with local companies, showcooking sessions with guest chefs, tastings of pistachio-based products, exhibitions, workshops, and live concerts in the town squares. Details on schedules, line-ups, and guests will be communicated on the official website fastucafest.it and the event's social media channels.
Raffadali is located in the province of Agrigento, in the heart of the Sicani Mountains. By car, take the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway, head towards Agrigento (SS189), and then follow the provincial road to Raffadali; it is about 12 km from Agrigento. The nearest train station is Agrigento Centrale, which is connected to the town by bus. The closest airports are Palermo Punta Raisi and Catania Fontanarossa.
Admission to the event and the Taste Trail is free; some specific tastings and activities may require a small fee. Events take place in the historic center, with squares and streets dedicated to various activities, primarily in the late afternoon and evening.
We recommend reaching the center on foot due to the large crowds, booking your accommodation in Agrigento or nearby villages well in advance, and combining your visit with a tour of the pistachio groves and the Sicani Mountains area.
