About Sporminore Peasant Wine

Every year in early June, the small village of Sporminore in the Val di Non transforms into the capital of Trentino's artisanal wine. Launched in 1994 and organized by the local Pro Loco, the Peasant Wine Festival offers a charming tasting trail through ten traditional village cellars, where visitors can sample over a hundred white, red, and rosé wines produced in the local 'caneve'. With food stalls serving potato tortei, live music, and the atmosphere of historic alleys, a village of seven hundred souls welcomes thousands of visitors.

The Peasant Wine Festival of Sporminore

In the heart of the Val di Non, in the small municipality of Sporminore (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige), one of the most authentic and beloved food and wine events in the region comes to life every year in early June: the Peasant Wine Festival. Born in 1994 almost as a joke among friends, it has grown over the years into an event capable of drawing thousands of people to a village with only seven hundred inhabitants.

The 'caneva' wine, the absolute star

The heart of the festival is peasant wine, produced artisanally in home cellars — the traditional caneve — according to knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Each edition showcases around a hundred different labels of whites, reds, and rosés, entered not only by producers from Sporminore but also by enthusiasts from other parts of Trentino. These are not commercial wines, but small family productions that tell the story of the deep bond between the community and its land.

A journey through ten cellars

The tasting winds along a charming path through the village's ten characteristic cellars, opened for the occasion among the alleys of the historic center. Equipped with a personalized glass, visitors move from one caneva to another, sampling the competing wines in a convivial atmosphere that combines oenology with the rediscovery of the village's most picturesque corners. A jury and a popular vote award the best labels.

Gastronomy and music

Accompanying the wine are food stalls featuring typical Trentino tortei di patate (potato fritters), cold cuts, meats, and vegetables, as well as specialties brought by friends from other regions: Valtellina pizzoccheri and bresaola from our friends in Livigno, Abruzzo arrosticini, and a corner dedicated to desserts. Live music enlivens the evenings and the village squares, with accordions and concerts, for an experience that blends food, wine, tradition, and folk culture.

A community celebration

Behind the festival is the tireless work of the Pro Loco of Sporminore and a hundred volunteers, who make it possible every year to transform the entire village into a large, widespread event. More than just a simple wine festival, the Peasant Wine Festival is the story of a territory that endures, preserves its roots, and shares them generously with those who choose to visit.

Sporminore Peasant Wine — edition 2026

The 26th edition of the Peasant Wine Festival took place in Sporminore from Friday, June 5 (preview evening) to Sunday, June 7, 2026. 128 white, red, and rosé wines were in competition, 32 of which were produced in Sporminore, available for tasting along the trail through the village's ten cellars. A major novelty this year was the 'A spasso con gusto' food and wine walk and the introduction of a popular jury for awarding prizes.

2026 Edition

The twenty-sixth edition of the Peasant Wine Festival was held in Sporminore from Friday, June 5, with the preview evening, until Sunday, June 7, 2026. 128 wines were in competition, including whites, reds, and rosés, 32 of which were produced in Sporminore and the others coming from various Trentino locations, all available for tasting along the path through the village's ten cellars.

Among the year's novelties was the 'A spasso con gusto' food and wine walk, scheduled for the morning of Sunday the 7th, and the introduction of a popular jury to award prizes to the best labels. There was no shortage of food stalls with potato tortei, cold cuts, meats, and vegetables, Valtellina pizzoccheri and bresaola from our friends in Livigno, Abruzzo arrosticini, a corner dedicated to desserts, and a space for Trentodoc sparkling wines.
