About Pagine d'Autore

Pagine d'Autore is the summer literary festival of San Marco in Lamis, located in the Gargano area of the Foggia province. Every July, the evocative cloister of the Convent of San Matteo hosts national authors for a series of evening events featuring book presentations, dialogues, readings, and musical interludes. Conceived and directed by Carla Bonfitto, the festival offers free admission and promotes reading in one of the most charming spots in the Gargano region of Puglia.

A literary festival in the heart of the Gargano

Pagine d'Autore is the literary festival that brings San Marco in Lamis to life every summer, a town in the Gargano area of the Foggia province, in Puglia. Created with the aim of promoting reading and direct interaction between the public and writers, the event is conceived and directed by teacher and cultural promoter Carla Bonfitto and has established itself as one of the most anticipated cultural highlights of the Gargano summer.

The Cloister of the Convent of San Matteo

The meetings take place in the evocative setting of the Cloister of the Convent of San Matteo, a building of Benedictine origin founded between the 9th and 10th centuries. The convent houses the precious "Padre Antonio Fania" Library, one of the most important convent libraries in Puglia, containing hundreds of thousands of volumes. In case of rain, the events are held inside the convent, without ever losing the intimate and inspiring atmosphere of the place.

Authors, dialogues, and music

Each evening, starting at 8:00 PM, is dedicated to a book presentation and a dialogue with its author, often moderated by journalists and writers. The program is enriched by two recurring sections: "Parole ad alta voce" (Words Aloud), dedicated to readings, and "Note a piรจ di pagina" (Footnotes), featuring live music interludes that accompany the meetings. Over the years, the festival has brought prominent names in contemporary Italian fiction and non-fiction to San Marco in Lamis.

A project supported by the community

The event is sponsored by the Municipality of San Marco in Lamis, the Turin International Book Fair, the Fondazione Monti Uniti di Foggia, the Gargano National Park Authority, and the "Per il Meglio della Puglia" association. Admission to all meetings is free, confirming the popular and inclusive nature of an event that unites culture, territory, and community.
