About Mattinata èXtraordinaria

Mattinata èXtraordinaria is the major summer festival program hosted by the Municipality of Mattinata, in the heart of the Gargano area in the province of Foggia. From June to September, the town comes alive with music, cultural talks, sports, nature, food and wine, and folk traditions, spread across the historic center, the seafront, and scenic spots like the Belvedere di Monte Saraceno. A summer season designed for residents, families, and tourists, blending high-profile national guests with the best of Mattinata's local identity.

A four-month summer on the Gargano

Mattinata èXtraordinaria is the summer festival program promoted by the Municipality of Mattinata, a white-washed village overlooking the Adriatic in the heart of the Gargano, in the province of Foggia (Puglia). It is not just a single event, but an entire widespread schedule that accompanies the community and visitors from June to September, with appointments dedicated to culture, music, sports, nature, gastronomy, and local traditions.

A multidisciplinary and widespread program

The strength of the festival lies in its variety and its distribution across the territory: events take place in the town center, along the coast, and in the most evocative locations, such as the Belvedere di Monte Saraceno, a natural terrace overlooking the coast. Throughout the summer, the program features high-profile national guests, concerts, shows, sports events, food and wine tours, and traditional festivals, catering to an audience ranging from families with children to tourists vacationing on the Gargano.

Signature events

  • Conversazioni dal Mare — the series of cultural talks at the Belvedere di Monte Saraceno, which brings well-known figures from journalism, politics, and culture to Mattinata every year.
  • Cromà Festival featuring the Sun Set Color Run, the sunset color race.
  • Summer Sport Festival "The Cage", dedicated to sports and outdoor activities.
  • A tavola col Pastore and Mattinamare, the food and wine tours that highlight local products and regional cuisine.
  • Mattinatese dell'Anno and the celebration of Municipal Autonomy, identity-focused moments deeply felt by the community.
  • La Notte Bianca, with music and shows until late at night.
  • The celebrations in honor of Santa Maria della Luce, which close the summer with religious and popular traditions.

Participation at the core

A distinctive feature of the project is the desire to build the program together with the territory: through an Open Call addressed to operators, associations, and businesses in Mattinata and neighboring towns, the program opens up to proposals from the community, which can include cultural, sports, artistic, and experiential initiatives in the official calendar. A way to make the Mattinata summer truly shared and rooted in the identity of the Gargano.

Mattinata èXtraordinaria — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Mattinata èXtraordinaria offers four months of events, from June 21 to September 19, featuring the major novelty of an Open Call for local associations and operators. Culture, shows, sports, nature, food and wine, and traditions intertwine in a broad and widespread program, supported by the Municipality of Mattinata led by Mayor Michele Bisceglia.
