The premier concert season of the Alto Tavoliere, featuring classical, jazz, and musical theatre
The Amici della Musica Concert Season of San Severo is one of the longest-running and most beloved classical music festivals in Northern Puglia. Promoted by the Amici della Musica Association, chaired by Professor Gabriella Orlando, the season has been a cornerstone of cultural life in the town of San Severo, in the Alto Tavoliere area of Foggia, for nearly six decades. The 2026 edition marks the 57th season, upholding a proven formula: a diverse, year-round program that bridges the gap between grand classical tradition, jazz, opera, singer-songwriter music, and theatre.
As per tradition, the season kicks off with the New Year's Day Concert on January 1st, performed by the ICO "Suoni del Sud" Symphony Orchestra at the Teatro Verdi, followed by a journey featuring both established masters and promising young talents. Highly anticipated guests include Tullio De Piscopo with his "80Tullio" show, actor Alessandro Preziosi in "Totò oltre la maschera", and Ettore Bassi in "Historia de Tango". Significant space is also dedicated to winners of major international competitions, such as pianist Yifan Wu (Busoni Competition) and violinist Simon Zhu (Paganini Competition).
Concerts take place in some of the city's most iconic locations: the 18th-century Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi, the heart of symphonic and theatrical events; the Sacra Famiglia Auditorium, dedicated to chamber music and young talents; and evocative spaces like the Cloister of Santa Maria della Libera and the Church of San Nicola, which host summer events and evenings of sacred and gospel music.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and the City of San Severo, the Amici della Musica season combines the promotion of young Apulian performers with the presence of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. The result is a high-quality, eclectic program that has made San Severo a reference point for music lovers across the province of Foggia and all of Puglia. The full-season subscription allows audiences to enjoy the entire journey at a discounted rate, in an atmosphere of shared passion.
The 2026 edition reaffirms the festival's commitment to covering the entire year with a high-level program distributed across San Severo's main cultural venues. Alongside big names in entertainment, the season highlights young talents and sacred music, with events also held in the city's churches and cloisters.
Among the most anticipated concerts: the New Year's Day Concert with the ICO "Suoni del Sud", Tullio De Piscopo with "80Tullio", Alessandro Preziosi in "Totò oltre la maschera", Ettore Bassi with "Historia de Tango", the Neapolitan jazz of Napoli in Jazz at the Cloister of Santa Maria della Libera, and the traditional gospel event in December.
San Severo is located in the Alto Tavoliere, in the province of Foggia. By car, it is accessible via the A14 motorway (San Severo exit) and the SS16 state road. The San Severo railway station is served by regional trains on the Adriatic line and by Ferrovie del Gargano. The nearest airport is "Gino Lisa" in Foggia; major international flights operate from Bari.
Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi, Sacra Famiglia Auditorium, Cloister of Santa Maria della Libera, and Church of San Nicola, all located in the city centre.
