The festival that kicks off the mountain bike season on the Paganella plateau, featuring riding, live music, and parties at the Andalo Base Camp.
The Paganella Bike Opening is the event that officially kicks off the mountain bike season every late May on the Paganella plateau, one of Europe's most renowned riding destinations in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites. The festival takes place across the municipalities of Andalo, Molveno, and Fai della Paganella, in the province of Trento, and centers around the Andalo Base Camp, located in the Rindole area: the headquarters featuring exhibition stands, a food court, a beer garden, and a concert stage.
The heart of the Paganella Bike Opening remains the bike. During the weekend, the trails of the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Area open, and a new trail is inaugurated each year: in 2026, it is the turn of Top Gun, a flow trail connecting the Andalo Zone to Fai della Paganella, spanning over 4 kilometers with approximately 1,000 meters of vertical drop. In the Brand Village, visitors can try out the latest innovations and test bikes from brands such as Transition, VPACE, Crankbrothers, Pirelli, POC, Smith, MET Helmets, and EVOC, with test sessions open to everyone.
At night, the Base Camp transforms into a stage: the festival days conclude with live concerts and DJ sets that keep Andalo buzzing until late. The formula combines daytime riding with evening festivities, attracting an international crowd that makes the Paganella Bike Opening much more than just a seasonal opening.
Participation in the festival is free for those who purchase a skipass and head up the mountain, even for just one day. The Base Camp facilities, food area, beer garden, and concerts are open to all. Now in its fifth edition in 2026, the Paganella Bike Opening has established itself as a benchmark in the Italian mountain bike calendar, drawing riders, families, and curious visitors to the stunning landscapes of the Paganella and the Brenta Dolomites.
The fifth edition of the Paganella Bike Opening, celebrated under the theme "Five Years of Madness", was held from May 29 to 31, 2026 in Andalo, in the province of Trento. The week coincided with the passing of the Giro d'Italia, with the arrival of the Cassano d'Adda-Andalo stage on May 27 and the departure of the Fai della Paganella-Pieve di Soligo stage on May 28.
On Saturday, May 30, the new flow trail Top Gun was inaugurated, connecting the Andalo Zone to Fai della Paganella with over 4 km and approximately 1,000 meters of vertical drop. Among the novelties of this edition were the Paganella Bike Games, lighthearted disciplines inspired by the Winter Olympics — Bikeathlon, Bike Curling, and Figure Biking — designed more for fun than for competition.
Friday featured Graz'ie Mille, a special project created for the Opening with artists from past editions, blending hip hop, freestyle rap, beatbox, percussion, and techno. Saturday saw Orieste y sus Problemas, a Trentino ensemble reinterpreting traditional cumbia, and the Bass Monkeys, a group with a Mediterranean sound mixing brass and electronics.
The Brand Village hosted bike tests and stands from brands such as Transition, VPACE, Kellys Bikes, SRAM, RockShox, Crankbrothers, Pirelli, POC, Smith, MET Helmets, and EVOC, accompanied by food trucks and a beer garden at the Andalo Base Camp.
Andalo can be reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway (exit San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona), continuing towards Val di Non and the Paganella plateau. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected to Andalo by bus.
The festival headquarters is the Andalo Base Camp, located in the Rindole area, featuring stands, bike tests, a food court, a beer garden, and a concert stage.
Access to the festival is free. To head up the mountain and use the bike park trails, a daily Dolomiti Paganella Bike skipass is required.
