An evening food and wine walk through the alleys of the Scontrone village
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Orme-Aperivicolo is an evening food and wine stroll held in summer in the small mountain village of Scontrone, located in the Alto Sangro area of L'Aquila province, in Abruzzo. The initiative was born from the desire to rediscover the ancient heart of the village: as dusk falls, the alleys are dressed in lights and colors, and the historic fondaciโthe village's ancient warehouses and cellarsโopen up to welcome visitors with tastings and samplings.
The route winds through the narrow streets of the historic center, stop by stop, offering typical dishes from the Abruzzese and Alto Sangro tradition. Each stop is a small taste of the territory, featuring local products, mountain cuisine, and the conviviality typical of village festivals. The event is not just a tasting session, but a way to experience the village in a different light, walking leisurely among the stone houses illuminated for the occasion.
The walk is accompanied by street performances and acrobatic shows, which turn the alleys into an open-air stage. The evening continues with live music: recent editions have featured a mix of acoustic sets, rock concerts, and sound shows, with the participation of local artists and special guests. The combination of food, street art, and music makes Orme-Aperivicolo one of the most anticipated events of the Scontrone summer.
The event is organized by the Associazione Escursionisti Scontrone, a local volunteer group that has been active for years in promoting the territory, the environment, and the traditions of the Municipality of Scontrone. Through Orme-Aperivicolo and other events on the summer calendar, the association helps to enliven the village and introduce it to visitors who reach the Alto Sangro during the summer months.
Scontrone is a small municipality nestled in the mountains of the Alto Sangro, in the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, just a stone's throw from Castel di Sangro. Its historic center, with its stone alleys and 'fondaci', is the ideal setting for an event like Orme-Aperivicolo, which combines mountain hospitality, good food, and the desire to gather together under the August sky.
The 2026 edition of Orme-Aperivicolo in Scontrone is awaiting official confirmation. The dates and program have not yet been announced by the Associazione Escursionisti Scontrone. Based on previous editions, the event is expected in August, with the usual evening food and wine stroll through the alleys and historic cellars of the village, tastings of typical Abruzzese dishes, street performances, and live music. Information will be updated as soon as the organization publishes the Scontrone summer calendar.
Scontrone is located in the Alto Sangro area, in the province of L'Aquila, near Castel di Sangro. By car, it can be reached via the SS17 road and local routes towards Castel di Sangro; the reference railway station is Castel di Sangro-Roccaraso.
The event typically takes place in August, in the evening. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to check the Facebook page of the Associazione Escursionisti Scontrone.
As this is a walk through the stone alleys of the village, comfortable shoes are recommended. It is advisable to check in advance how to participate in the tastings.
