About Orbassano Carnival

The Orbassano Carnival is the most vibrant and anticipated festival in this town on the outskirts of Turin, Piedmont. For three days, the streets and Piazza della Pace come alive with confetti, music, and joy, centered around the traditional Polentè and Polentera masks, the guardians of Orbassano's identity. The highlight is the spectacular night parade of allegorical floats, accompanied by a competition, street food, and musical evenings for all ages, with a Sunday entirely dedicated to children and families. Free admission.

The historic Orbassano Carnival

The Orbassano Carnival is one of the most cherished traditions in this municipality within the Metropolitan City of Turin, in the heart of Piedmont. For generations, the event has enlivened the town center with vibrant colors, cheerful sounds, and a festive atmosphere that engages the entire community, turning the squares into a grand open-air stage.

Polentè and Polentera, the city's masks

The symbolic heart of the festival lies in the historic Polentè and Polentera masks, the traditional figures who embody the spirit of Orbassano. Following tradition, the two characters receive the symbolic keys to the city from the Mayor, officially kicking off the festivities. Their investiture is accompanied by the Majorettes Group, the Orbassano City Band, and local historical groups, including the Popular Mutual Aid Society, the Ladies and Knights Association, and the Pro Loco, the true driving forces behind the event.

The night parade of allegorical floats

The most anticipated moment is the night parade of allegorical floats, which illuminates Piazza della Pace with spectacular creations built by masked groups from the local area and neighboring provinces. The parade is accompanied by a competition that rewards the most beautiful and original floats, culminating in the announcement of the winners and an evening filled with music, confetti, and fun.

Three days of celebration for everyone

The program spans three days packed with events:

  • Friday: Inauguration with the opening of the street food area and attractions, musical aperitifs, dance performances, and an evening concert by a tribute band.
  • Saturday: The main day featuring a musical aperitif, dance school performances, "no-stop dance," and in the evening, the grand night parade of floats with a DJ set, float presentation, and awards ceremony.
  • Sunday: A day dedicated to children with registration for the costume contest, a craft market, hot chocolate distribution, and the "Grand Children's Carnival" featuring games, shows, and prizes.

Piedmontese tradition and gastronomy

Beyond the parades, the Orbassano Carnival is also an opportunity to savor local flavors thanks to the dedicated street food area and typical products, all set within a festive framework that blends popular tradition, folklore, and conviviality. An unmissable appointment for those wanting to experience the Piedmontese Carnival in an authentic way, just a few kilometers from Turin.
