Opera in Piazza is the premier summer event for opera lovers, transforming Piazza Caduti per la Libertà in the historic center of Bra (Province of Cuneo, Piedmont) into a breathtaking open-air theater every August 1st. Promoted by the City of Bra’s Culture and Events Office, the festival brings a major operatic work to life under the stars, performed by soloists, a live orchestra, and a choir.

A cherished tradition in the Langhe and Roero

For years, this event has been a sell-out success, establishing itself as one of the highlights of the 'Estate a Bra' (Summer in Bra) program. Located in the heart of the Roero capital, just steps away from the UNESCO-listed hills of the Langhe, the festival takes opera out of traditional theaters and into the public square, creating an experience that unites culture, tourism, and entertainment. The square’s Baroque architecture provides a natural, atmospheric backdrop for the most beloved arias of Italian opera.

Great operatic masterpieces

Each edition features a different masterpiece. Over the years, the Bra square has hosted classics such as Giacomo Puccini's Tosca and Turandot, Gioachino Rossini's The Barber of Seville, and Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana, alongside the most famous arias from Nabucco, Aida, and Madama Butterfly.
