When summer arrives in Bra, the cinema leaves the theaters and moves outdoors to the charming courtyard of Palazzo Traversa, located at Via Parpera 4. The Open-Air Cinema series, organized by the Culture and Events Office of the Municipality of Bra, is one of the most beloved summer traditions in the city: every Thursday evening from late June to mid-August, the historic courtyard fills with chairs and spectators eager to watch the most significant films of the season.

An open-air arena in the historic center

The setting is one of the most fascinating buildings in the historic center of Bra, a city in the heart of the Roero region, in the province of Cuneo. Palazzo Traversa houses the Museum of Art, History, and Archaeology and is a cultural destination in its own right; seeing it transform into a summer arena under the Piedmont sky gives the evenings a unique atmosphere. Screenings begin at 9:30 PM and admission costs just 3 euros, with booking recommended due to limited seating. In case of rain, events are moved to the "G. Arpino" Auditorium.

Cinema and Museum: culture before the film

One of the highlights of the series is the "Cinema and Museum" project: before select screenings, from 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM, visitors can participate in short, themed guided tours of the Palazzo Traversa Museum collections. It is a clever way to combine the discovery of local heritage with the pleasure of a night at the movies, promoting both the museum and the film series.

The program focuses on quality: Italian and international art-house films, comedies, documentaries, and animated features, often selected from the most awarded works of the year. There are also special free-admission events dedicated to themes dear to the city—such as Slow Food, a movement born right here in Bra.
