Autumn music, theatre, cabaret, and cinema in Collepietra, South Tyrol
The Steinegg Live Festival takes place every autumn in Collepietra/Steinegg, a small village perched on a panoramic terrace above the Val d'Ega, in the municipality of Cornedo all'Isarco/Karneid, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). Established in 1996 by the Kulturverein Steinegg Live, the festival has successfully transformed a village of a few hundred inhabitants into a cultural landmark that attracts artists and audiences from across the region and abroad.
The festival's formula is multidisciplinary: alongside major international concerts, there are theatre performances, cabaret evenings, film screenings, and moments dedicated to traditional South Tyrolean music. The heart of the evenings is the Kulturhaus Steinegg, the village's cultural centre, but the initiatives involve the entire community, with the children's and youth theatre group and the local brass band (Musikkapelle Steinegg) performing alongside international guests.
Over the years, the festival has hosted world-class artists from the blues, jazz, and guitar scenes, as well as well-known pop and singer-songwriter names like Gianna Nannini, Canned Heat, and Rainhard Fendrich. The series dedicated to the Guitar Night, Blues Night, and jazz-fusion have become a trademark, bringing virtuoso guitarists, legendary bands, and avant-garde musical projects to Collepietra.
One of the most appreciated features of Steinegg Live is its focus on emerging talent: the Rising Stars & Local Heroes evenings give visibility to young local musicians, while offerings for children and families make the festival accessible to all ages. The organisation, entirely based on volunteering, is an authentic expression of the village's identity and its strong bond with music.
Experiencing Steinegg Live also means discovering a picturesque corner of South Tyrol: the autumn landscapes of the Val d'Ega, the views of the Dolomites, and the intimate atmosphere of a mountain village provide the backdrop for two weeks of events that combine artistic quality with the warmth of the local community.
From October 16 to 31, 2026, the Steinegg Live Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary with a programme of great international scope at the Kulturhaus Steinegg in Collepietra/Steinegg, in the Val d'Ega (Bolzano). Opening the festival, from October 16 to 18, are performances by the children's and youth theatre group.
Highlights include: October 23, the Blues Night with Finnish guitarist Erja Lyytinen & Band; October 28, the show by the Well Brüder; and October 31, the grand jazz-fusion finale with Chris Minh Doky joined by Till Brönner on trumpet, Manu Katché on drums, and Morten Schantz. There will also be the Rising Stars evenings (October 24) and the traditional Steinegg Live Fest on October 25, featuring traditional South Tyrolean music.
