Celebrating the olives and extra virgin olive oil of the Belice Valley in Partanna
The Nocellara del Belice Festival takes place in Partanna, a town in the province of Trapani located in the heart of the Belice Valley, Sicily. The event is dedicated to the Nocellara del Belice, the signature olive cultivar of the regionโa dual-purpose variety prized for both its excellent table olives and its high-quality, DOP-protected extra virgin olive oil.
The festival aims to promote this agricultural excellence by sharing its history, unique properties, and deep connection to the farming community of the Belice Valley. The program balances technical and scientific insights, featuring round tables with researchers, olive oil consortium representatives, and producers, alongside convivial experiences designed for the general public.
Visitors can join masterclasses on the organoleptic qualities of extra virgin olive oil produced in the hills of Partanna, learning how to identify a premium product. The event also features cooking shows in collaboration with local hospitality schools and guided tours of local farms to get an up-close look at the oil production chain. Throughout the historic center, between Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, producer stands offer free tastings of EVO oil, olives, and local specialties.
Evenings are brought to life with musical performances that turn the squares of Partanna into a vibrant community hub. Sponsored by the Sicilian Region and organized by the Belice Valle association, the festival is a growing highlight in the food and wine calendar of Western Sicily.
Visiting the Nocellara del Belice Festival is an invitation to immerse yourself in the rural identity of the Belice Valley, a land of ancient olive groves and deep-rooted agricultural traditions. Between tastings, visitors can explore Partanna and its heritage, rediscovering the value of an olive-growing culture that is an integral part of the Sicilian landscape.
