Montegnacco's Summer
Montegnacco is a hamlet of Cassacco, a municipality in the gentle morainic hills north of Udine, where the amphitheater of the Julian Prealps frames the landscape. Here, every July, the Pro Loco Montegnacco organizes the Festa d'Estate (Summer Festival), a village fair that has attracted visitors from all around to the Parco Festeggiamenti Zanier for over thirty years.
'Costa alla Fiamma', Queen of the Grill
The festival's signature dish is the 'costa alla fiamma', cooked over embers and served with other Friulian culinary specialties: grilled vegetables, frico, spit-roasted chicken, and sausage. The kitchen is open every day of the festival from 7 PM, with a queue management system for smooth service, using rigid plastic plates and steel cutlery to reduce waste. A festival mindful of sustainability as well as taste.
Community and Music Under the Stars
Alongside the food stalls, evenings at Parco Zanier are filled with music and entertainment, in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that is the hallmark of festivals in the Friulian hills. For 2026, the Montegnacco Summer Festival is expected in July at the Parco Festeggiamenti Zanier, with dates yet to be confirmed (in 2025, it took place over two weekends, July 11-13 and 18-20, for its 31st edition). Organized by Pro Loco Montegnacco, it will likely feature the proven formula of musical evenings and Friulian cuisine.
