Mercanti nel Borgo - Antigae

A lounge within the walls

Venzone calls itself "a lounge within the walls", and there is no better occasion to discover it than the Mercanti nel Borgo - Antigae market. One Sunday a month, from spring to autumn, the historic centre of the walled village fills with stalls full of antique furniture, prints, ceramics, books, records, modern items, and vintage curiosities. The Friulian word antigae — "old things" — perfectly captures the spirit of the event.

Exhibitors from three countries

The market attracts exhibitors from all over Triveneto, as well as from Austria and Croatia, in a cross-border showcase that reflects Friuli Venezia Giulia's position as a crossroads. The stalls are open all day, typically from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and the event takes place even in case of rain, thanks to the sheltered setting of the village's arcades and alleys.

Shopping and strolling

More than just a market, Antigae is an opportunity to stroll through the streets carefully rebuilt after the 1976 earthquake, admire the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea and the Gothic palaces, stop at local eateries, and hunt for unique pieces. The initiative is promoted by the Pro Venzone association, with the support of the Municipality of Venzone, and is part of the rich calendar of events that enliven the Carnic village throughout the year.
