The Wednesday market in the heart of Malles Venosta
The Molser Mittamorkt is the historic weekly Wednesday market held in the center of Malles Venosta/Mals, in the Upper Val Venosta, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). The name comes from the South Tyrolean dialect: Mittamorkt means "mid-week market," as it takes place every Wednesday. Markets have a centuries-old tradition in Malles and remain one of the most cherished events in village life today.
The market enlivens the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square in the heart of the town every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The stalls are active almost all year round, continuing through the autumn and winter seasons. Its location in the historic center makes a visit to the market the perfect opportunity to discover the village of Malles, famous for its churches and bell towers.
The Mittamorkt focuses increasingly on regional products and short supply chains, transforming into a true Val Venosta fresh-produce market. Among the stalls, you will find:
From June to September, the Mittamorkt is enriched by the Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market set up in the pedestrian area. Here, local producers offer the fruits of their labor directly: speck, cheeses, and freshly picked fruit and vegetables. It is the best time of year to taste and purchase genuine, zero-kilometer specialties from the Upper Val Venosta.
Organized in collaboration with the Obervinschgau Tourist Association (Tourismusverein Obervinschgau), the Molser Mittamorkt is much more than just a market: it is a weekly meeting place for the residents of Malles and neighboring hamlets, and a delightful stop for tourists staying in the Dolomite and Alpine region of Trentino-Alto Adige.
The 2026 edition of the Molser Mittamorkt confirms the usual weekly Wednesday appointment in Malles Venosta/Mals. The market takes place from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square, with stalls active throughout the year, including autumn and winter.
Among the stalls, you will find seasonal fruit and vegetables, alpine cheeses, speck, bread, jams, juices, and herbal teas, as well as stone, wood, and felt handicrafts, textiles, and plants. From June to September, the Mittamorkt is joined by the Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market with direct sales from Upper Val Venosta producers.
Malles Venosta is located at the entrance to the Val Venosta, in the province of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached via the SS40 Resia Pass road. By train, Malles station is the terminus of the Val Venosta railway (Vinschgerbahn) connecting from Merano.
Every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square. The farmers' market (Bauernmarkt) runs from June to September.
Access to the market is free.
