About Malles Mittamorkt

Every Wednesday morning, the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square in Malles Venosta come alive with the Molser Mittamorkt, the historic weekly market of the Upper Val Venosta. From 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, stalls offer fresh local produce: fruit, vegetables, alpine cheeses, speck, bread, jams, herbal teas, and juices, alongside handcrafted wood, stone, and felt items. From June to September, the Bauernmarkt—a farmers' market featuring local producers—joins the event. A genuine, long-standing tradition in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige.

The weekly market of Malles Venosta

The Molser Mittamorkt is the historic weekly Wednesday market held in the center of Malles Venosta/Mals, in the Upper Val Venosta, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). The name comes from the South Tyrolean dialect: Mittamorkt means "mid-week market," as it takes place every Wednesday. Markets have a centuries-old tradition in Malles and remain one of the most cherished events in village life today.

Where and when

The market enlivens the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square in the heart of the town every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The stalls are active almost all year round, continuing through the autumn and winter seasons. Its location in the historic center makes a visit to the market the perfect opportunity to discover the village of Malles, famous for its churches and bell towers.

Market products

The Mittamorkt focuses increasingly on regional products and short supply chains, transforming into a true Val Venosta fresh-produce market. Among the stalls, you will find:

  • Seasonal fruit, berries, and vegetables
  • Alpine cheeses, speck, and homemade bread
  • Jams, vinegars, juices, and mountain herbal teas
  • Stone, wood, and felt handicrafts
  • Textiles, leather goods, plants, and household and garden equipment

The Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market

From June to September, the Mittamorkt is enriched by the Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market set up in the pedestrian area. Here, local producers offer the fruits of their labor directly: speck, cheeses, and freshly picked fruit and vegetables. It is the best time of year to taste and purchase genuine, zero-kilometer specialties from the Upper Val Venosta.

A local tradition

Organized in collaboration with the Obervinschgau Tourist Association (Tourismusverein Obervinschgau), the Molser Mittamorkt is much more than just a market: it is a weekly meeting place for the residents of Malles and neighboring hamlets, and a delightful stop for tourists staying in the Dolomite and Alpine region of Trentino-Alto Adige.

Malles Mittamorkt — edition 2026

In 2026, the Molser Mittamorkt returns every Wednesday to the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square in Malles Venosta, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The stalls offer fresh Val Venosta produce—fruit, vegetables, alpine cheeses, speck, bread, jams, and herbal teas—alongside local wood, stone, and felt handicrafts. From June to September, the market is enriched by the Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market featuring local producers.

The 2026 edition of the Molser Mittamorkt confirms the usual weekly Wednesday appointment in Malles Venosta/Mals. The market takes place from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh Square, with stalls active throughout the year, including autumn and winter.

Among the stalls, you will find seasonal fruit and vegetables, alpine cheeses, speck, bread, jams, juices, and herbal teas, as well as stone, wood, and felt handicrafts, textiles, and plants. From June to September, the Mittamorkt is joined by the Bauernmarkt, the farmers' market with direct sales from Upper Val Venosta producers.
