About Rosenkranzmarkt

Every October, the Town Hall Square in Sluderno, South Tyrol, comes alive with the Rosenkranzmarkt, or Rosary Market. This traditional autumn fair in the Vinschgau Valley features stalls filled with homemade goods, local crafts, speck, and alpine cheeses, all set against the golden backdrop of the alpine autumn. Free admission.

The Rosary Market of Sluderno

The Rosenkranzmarkt, known in Italian as the Rosary Market, is one of the most cherished autumn events for the community of Sluderno (Schluderns), a small town in the upper Vinschgau Valley (Obervinschgau) in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. Every year, at the beginning of October, the Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) transforms into a lively village market where local produce and traditional crafts take center stage.

What to expect

The market takes its name from the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, traditionally celebrated in early October, and retains the genuine character of ancient valley fairs. Among the stalls, you will find homemade products, hand-sewn items, local handicrafts, and, of course, South Tyrolean gastronomic specialties: speck, alpine cheeses, fresh bread, preserves, and traditional sweets. Live music fills the morning air, giving the square that convivial atmosphere that makes village fairs in the Vinschgau Valley so authentic.

An opportunity to discover Sluderno

Sluderno is a village with a long history, dominated by the silhouette of Castel Coira (Churburg) and situated in one of the most picturesque areas of the Obervinschgau. During the market, the town also offers a free guided tour of the historic center, allowing visitors to discover local corners and traditions while enjoying the valley's so-called "golden autumn." The Rosenkranzmarkt is organized by the Municipality of Sluderno and is a free-entry event, perfect for an autumn family outing among the scents, flavors, and crafts of South Tyrol.
