Mese Montagna is a series of events dedicated to the world of mountains and mountaineering, held in the Valle dei Laghi, within the municipality of Vallelaghi, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Established in 2007, it has grown into one of the region's most anticipated autumn events. Every year, between October and November, the Teatro Valle dei Laghi in Vezzano becomes the meeting point for enthusiasts of mountain life, hiking, and climbing.
The event promotes a conscious and sustainable approach to the alpine environment, combining the spectacle of mountaineering feats with reflections on the relationship between humanity and the mountains. Each edition is built around a central theme that weaves through the evenings, screenings, and meetings, offering the audience not only excitement but also insights into the value of the High Lands.
Over the years, Mese Montagna has brought some of the most famous names in Italian and international mountaineering to the Valle dei Laghi, featuring protagonists of extraordinary feats on peaks across the globe. The evenings at the theatre alternate between travel stories, book presentations, documentary and mountain film screenings, photography exhibitions, and theatrical performances, in a program designed to engage both experts and families.
Alongside the evening meetings, the festival offers excursions and guided treks that allow participants to discover the trails, castles, and landscapes of the Valle dei Laghi firsthand, such as the night treks to Castel Madruzzo. It is a way to live the festival's message concretely, bringing the public into direct contact with the mountains.
Mese Montagna is organized by the Associazione Mese Montagna ETS, which brings together founding members including the Municipality of Vallelaghi, the Valle dei Laghi Community, the Valle dei Laghi Ecomuseum, the Valle dei Laghi Tourist Consortium, and Mountime - Guide Alpine Arco. The affordable ticket policy, with free evenings dedicated to younger people, confirms the festival's mission: to bring the general public, and especially the new generations, closer to the culture and values of the mountains.
The evenings take place at the Teatro Valle dei Laghi, in Vezzano, in the municipality of Vallelaghi (Trentino). Excursions depart from various locations in the Valle dei Laghi.
By car: the Valle dei Laghi is connected to Trento and Lake Garda via the SS45bis road. It takes about 15-20 minutes from Trento. By train: arrive at Trento station, then take local bus connections to the valley.
Entry to individual evenings is at an affordable price (approx. €8 at the box office); free entry for younger attendees. Some events (exhibitions, awards ceremonies) are free. Information and tickets are available through the festival's official channels.
