Merch'Estate, the fair of flavors from the Vallombrosa mountains

Merch'Estate in Saltino is the summer market fair that brings the village of Saltino to life, in the Municipality of Reggello, in the province of Florence. At nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, a short distance from the famous Abbey of Vallombrosa and its Biogenetic Nature Reserve, the event brings together producers, artisans, and the Pro Loco for a day entirely dedicated to traditional products from the Reggello area and local supply chains.

What to expect at the fair

The heart of the event is the market set up in the Spazio Polivalente of Saltino, where stalls offer the finest food, wine, and crafts of the Tuscan mountains. Among the stalls, you will find cured meats, cheeses, honey, preserves, sweets, and other zero-kilometer specialties that tell the story of the farming and woodland identity of this corner of the Florentine Valdarno.

The pairing with the Mangialonga of Vallombrosa

Merch'Estate is part of the rich summer calendar that the Pro Loco Saltino Vallombrosa organizes for the Reggello mountains, and is traditionally linked to the Mangialonga of Vallombrosa, the food and wine walk that crosses the paths and beech forests of the woods. The Mangialonga route winds for about twelve kilometers with various tasting stops, allowing you to combine trekking in nature with the pleasure of local flavors and conclude the day right among the stalls of the fair.

Saltino and Vallombrosa, a unique setting

A historic holiday destination among the most beloved in Tuscany, Saltino is surrounded by the fir and beech forests of Vallombrosa, cared for by monks for centuries and now protected as a nature reserve. The village, reachable from Reggello along a scenic road, retains the charm of Art Nouveau villas and grand period hotels, offering visitors summer coolness, trails, arboretums, and a network of events that the Pro Loco animates from spring until the Christmas markets.
