ReOlio: Celebrating extra virgin olive oil in Reggello

In the heart of the Florentine Valdarno, where hills climb toward the monumental Vallombrosa forest, the town of Reggello (Province of Florence, Tuscany) hosts one of the region's longest-running food and wine festivals every autumn. Established in 1973, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Festival has surpassed its half-century mark, and as of 2025, it has rebranded as ReOlio—a play on words celebrating oil as the true "king" (re) of the Reggello territory. In 2026, the event celebrates its 53rd edition.

A sensory journey around the green gold

ReOlio is more than just a fair: it is a curated experience designed to help visitors discover every nuance of freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil. The event is spread across various themed areas animating the Palazzetto dello Sport on Via Brunetto Latini and its surrounding spaces:

• Market exhibition, connecting the public directly with local producers;
• Tasting area, a journey through the aromas and flavors of new-season oil;
• Show area, featuring live cooking demonstrations and meetings with industry experts;
• Shop area, dedicated to selected oils and typical Valdarno products;
• Food & drink area, featuring the "King's Aperitif" and the AperiOlio;
• ReOlio Kids, a space for children with creative workshops and educational games.

Between olive mills, groves, and the Abbey of Vallombrosa

The festival is also an opportunity to explore the local area: guided tours are organized to visit olive mills, groves, castles, and the famous Abbey of Vallombrosa, alongside sensory analysis courses led by professional tasters. With its centuries-old olive groves, Reggello is one of Tuscany's most important olive-growing centers and has built much of its agricultural and cultural identity around this product.

A tradition looking to the future

The ReOlio rebranding has introduced a modern visual identity and a program rich in multi-sensory experiences, without betraying the popular, convivial spirit that has drawn enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors to Reggello for over fifty years. Admission to the event is free, reflecting the educational and promotional mission of the event, organized by the Municipality of Reggello.
