A summer of culture, nature, and community between Londa and San Godenzo, on the edge of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park
The Florentine Mountain Festival is a summer series running from June to September that enlivens the village of Londa and its hamlets, in the heart of the mountains northeast of Florence, alongside the nearby town of San Godenzo. Created to give a voice and new vitality to the inland areas of the Tuscan Apennines, the festival weaves together music, nature, food, culture, and community gatherings in a calendar spread across town squares, trails, forests, and local landmarks.
The municipality of Londa, in the Province of Florence (Tuscany), is located on the edge of the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park, one of the most precious natural environments in the Apennines. It is in this setting of ridges, beech forests, and ancient villages that the festival offers its experiences: from scenic hikes to forest bathing, and from open-air concerts to dinners featuring local produce. The festival is supported by the Tuscany Region, the Metropolitan City of Florence, and the Park Authority.
The festival program brings together different generations and perspectives. Alongside evening concerts, the schedule features trekking and excursions, forest therapy and yoga sessions, workshops for children focused on science, cooking, and crafts, as well as exhibitions, theatrical performances, and film screenings. A central role is played by cultural meetings, with talks and conferences on topics such as agroecology, sustainable development models, and the role of culture as a driver of well-being for mountain communities.
The festival is organized by the municipalities of Londa and San Godenzo, coordinated by LAMA Impresa Sociale, and supported by local Pro Loco associations and cultural entities. It is funded by NextGenerationEU and the PNRR Cultura, as part of a project addressing the economic and social challenges of inland areas by focusing on participation, hospitality, and new forms of work: during certain days, it is possible to stay for free and make use of coworking spaces.
Almost all events are free and open to the public. Exceptions include dinners, aperitifs, and certain special experiences, which require booking and a contribution. It is an ideal opportunity for families, hikers, music lovers, and curious travelers who want to discover a lesser-known side of Tuscany—the Florentine mountains—far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The third edition of the Florentine Mountain Festival takes place from June 6 to September 13, 2026, in Londa and its hamlets, with a week dedicated to San Godenzo from July 13 to 19. As in previous editions, the festival combines local historical festivals with new events focused on music, nature, food, and community, designed for all ages.
The full calendar is currently being announced. Among the first confirmed events are a trekking tour to discover the local bivouacs in the Londa area (June 21) and the evening events of Fusigno d'Estate (June 19-21). Almost all events will be free and open to the public, with booking and a contribution required for dinners, aperitifs, and special experiences.
Londa can be reached by car from Florence in about 40 minutes via the SR70 della Consuma or the SP556. The nearest train station is Contea-Londa on the Florence-Borgo San Lorenzo line. San Godenzo is a few kilometers away and is connected by the SS67.
Most events are free and open to the public. Dinners, aperitifs, and some experiences require booking and a contribution.
