The Tractor Ploughing Festival in Fruges

The Festa de Pargher – Sagra della Motoaratura is one of the most characteristic events of the summer in Massa Lombarda, a town in the Bassa Romagna region, in the province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. The event takes place in the Fruges industrial area, along via Argine San Paolo, and transforms the countryside of Massa Lombarda into a large stage for tractors, engines, and farming tradition for an entire weekend.

The Meaning of the Name

The term 'pargher' belongs to the Romagna dialect and refers to the ploughshare, the tool that cuts and turns the earth. The festival is therefore, first and foremost, a tribute to tractor ploughing and the agricultural culture that has shaped the landscape of the Romagna plain. The event is organized by the Associazione Festa de Pargher, born from the desire of a group of young farmers from Massa Lombarda to bring the community closer to the rural traditions of the area.

Engines, Races, and Shows

The heart of the festival is the program of agricultural and motor-themed trials and races. Among the events that traditionally liven up the evenings are:

• Dirt acceleration races with all types of vehicles: quads, motocross bikes, and cars;
• Tractor pulling, the test of strength with tractors as the absolute protagonists;
• 4x4 off-road shows on the dirt track;
• exhibitions of agricultural machinery and events dedicated to tractor ploughing.

The Traditional Table

Alongside the engine spectacle, there is the food stand, open every evening, offering dishes from Romagna cuisine: piadine, first courses, grilled meats, and specialties that tell of the generosity of the Bassa Romagna table. It's an opportunity to enjoy an evening in good company, between the roar of tractors and the flavors of the region.

An Event of the Massa Lombarda Summer

The Festa de Pargher is part of the rich summer program 'E…state a Massa' promoted by the Municipality of Massa Lombarda, which offers music, outdoor cinema, festivals, and popular traditions throughout the season. An event at the end of July that combines fun, conviviality, and agricultural heritage, capable of attracting engine enthusiasts and families from all over the province of Ravenna to Fruges.
