The Massa Lombarda Market Festival
The Festa Mercato is one of the most beloved events of the summer in Massa Lombarda, a town in the Bassa Romagna region in the province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. Every Friday evening, from June to August, the historic center transforms into a large open-air stage: market stalls, outdoor dining tables, food trucks, music, and shows fill Piazza Matteotti, Corso Vittorio Veneto, and the streets of the center. It's the beating heart of the city's summer program, drawing families, young people, and curious visitors from nearby towns.
A Different Evening Every Friday
The formula that makes the Festa Mercato special is the themed Fridays: each event has a different theme that changes from week to week. It ranges from the streets of art, with exhibitions and dance recitals, to the streets of engines with vintage car and motorcycle gatherings, to evenings dedicated to games, talents, and world cuisines. Hobby, craft, and vintage markets are organized along Corso Vittorio Veneto and in Piazza Matteotti by the local merchant network.

Part of "E...state a Massa"
The Festa Mercato is part of the rich summer program "E...state a Massa", which from June to September accompanies residents and visitors with a schedule that combines entertainment, culture, social events, popular traditions, and local promotion. Alongside the Friday markets, there are established events such as the Folklore Festival, the Sagra delle Sfogline (pasta makers' festival), the Beer Festival, and the open-air cinema. Admission to the Festa Mercato is free and the event is promoted by the Municipality of Massa Lombarda along with local associations and merchant networks.
Market Festival — edition 2026
In 2026, the Festa Mercato will liven up Massa Lombarda's Friday evenings from June to August, with a calendar of themed evenings in Piazza Matteotti and the historic center. It kicks off on June 12th with the "Summer Kick-off" evening, the "Infiorata senza fiori" (Flower Carpet without flowers), and a concert by The Cadillac Dream Band. This is followed by events on June 16th, 19th, 23rd, 26th, and 30th, each with a different theme: music, art, engines, and gastronomy alternate in the streets of the center.
Admission is free, and the event is part of the city's summer program promoted by the Municipality of Massa Lombarda.

- 9:30 PM: actress Maria Pia Timo with "Doppio brodo show — The Manual for the Imperfect Woman"

- Recital by the Danza & Danza school
Friday, June 26th — The Streets of Engines
- Concert and gathering of cars and motorcycles, with a focus on the region's evolution
Friday, June 30th — Fiat 500 Evening
- Gathering and parade of Fiat 500s along Corso Vittorio Veneto
