About Massa Gustorum

Massa Gustorum is a showcase of excellent agri-food products that brings the Ex Convento delle Clarisse in Massa Marittima, Grosseto, to life every year. Organized by Slow Food Monteregio, the event unites local producers around the values of good, clean, and fair food. Wine, extra virgin olive oil, cheeses, cured meats, honey, flours, and craft beers are featured through tasting stalls, masterclasses, conferences, and festive moments, celebrating the culinary traditions of the Maremma and the Colline Metallifere.

Massa Gustorum: The taste of Maremma at the Ex Convento delle Clarisse

Massa Gustorum is the food and wine event that transforms the evocative Ex Convento delle Clarisse in Piazza XXIV Maggio, Massa Marittima, into a showcase for the finest agri-food products in the province of Grosseto. Organized by the Slow Food Monteregio chapter with the patronage of the Municipality, the event brings producers who embody the Slow Food philosophy of good, clean, and fair food to this medieval village in the Colline Metallifere.

A market exhibition of excellent products

The heart of the event is the market exhibition, which gathers dozens of stalls from local producers. Walking among the stands, visitors can meet local winemakers, olive oil producers, cheesemakers, butchers, beekeepers, and brewers, with the opportunity to taste and purchase:

  • Wine from the Monteregio and Tuscan coast vineyards;
  • Extra virgin olive oil from the Colline Metallifere;
  • Zero-kilometer cheeses, cured meats, and honey;
  • Flours, vegetables, desserts, and craft beer;
  • Local artisanal products, with artists and craftsmen at work.

Culture, sustainability, and tradition

Massa Gustorum is more than just a market: it is a journey that weaves together taste, culture, and sustainability. The program alternates between conferences on food and health, book presentations dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, free masterclasses, and convivial moments in collaboration with the Bernardino Lotti Institute, whose culinary students prepare local dishes and lunches.

The spectacle of the Terzieri

Among the most anticipated highlights is the performance by the Compagnia degli Sbandieratori e Musici della Società dei Terzieri di Massa Marittima, whose flags and drums evoke the city's medieval soul and accompany visitors throughout the afternoon.

An event rooted in the territory

For several editions, Massa Gustorum has established itself as a reference point for producers, enthusiasts, and the curious, promoting the network of Slow Food chapters in the Maremma and on the Tuscan coast. The setting of the Ex Convento delle Clarisse, in the historic center of Massa Marittima, gives the event a unique atmosphere, blending art, history, and the authentic flavors of Tuscany.

Massa Gustorum — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Massa Gustorum marked a turning point: for the first time, the event expanded to two days, Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, at the Ex Convento delle Clarisse in Massa Marittima. An edition dedicated to taste, culture, and sustainability, featuring conferences, a convivial dinner, a market exhibition, masterclasses, and the presentation of the 2026 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Guide.
