About Marina Carnival

Every year in the heart of winter, the Marina di Pisa seafront transforms into an open-air stage for the carnival of this coastal district of the Tuscan capital. A grand masquerade parade winds along the seaside promenade, accompanied by marching bands and brought to life by children, families, and costumed groups. This free event is organized by the Centro Commerciale Naturale in partnership with Confcommercio Pisa and culminates in the awarding of prizes for the best costumes in Piazza Gorgona.

The Carnival of Pisa's coastal district

The Marina di Pisa Carnival is the masquerade celebration that brings the seafront of this coastal district in the Municipality of Pisa, Tuscany, to life every winter. Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea at the mouth of the Arno River, Marina di Pisa hosts a grand parade for an afternoon, turning its traditional seaside promenade into a path filled with color, confetti, music, and fantastical characters.

A parade along the seafront

The heart of the event is the masquerade parade, which kicks off from the Marina di Pisa Port and travels along the seafront, crossing the squares facing the sea until it reaches Piazza Gorgona. The procession is accompanied by marching bands that set the rhythm for the event throughout the route, contributing to the festive atmosphere that draws residents, families, and curious visitors from across the Pisan coast.

A carnival for families and schools

The festival has a strong community and family focus: the protagonists are primarily children and young people, often involved through collaboration with local schools, particularly the Niccolรฒ Pisano Comprehensive Institute of Marina di Pisa. Each edition features a different theme, which inspires costumes and sets, providing a common thread for the entire parade.

Awarding the best costumes

At the end of the procession, the awards ceremony for the best costumes takes place in Piazza Gorgona, divided into four categories: adult, baby, junior, and group. Prizes and surprises await the most original participants, in a grand finale that brings together all the day's protagonists.

An event on the Pisan coast

Organized by the Centro Commerciale Naturale of Marina di Pisa together with Confcommercio Pisa, with the collaboration of local entities such as the Croce Azzurra Litorale Pisano, the Marina di Pisa Carnival is a free event deeply felt by the community. It represents an opportunity to discover one of the most beloved seaside resorts on the Tuscan coast during the winter, in a lively and family-friendly atmosphere.

Marina Carnival โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Marina di Pisa Carnival featured a fairy tale theme, bringing enchanted characters, colors, and dreamlike atmospheres to life on the seafront. Originally scheduled for Sunday, February 8, the festival was postponed due to bad weather and took place on Sunday, February 22, from 3 PM to 6 PM, with high public participation thanks to the beautiful day.

For 2026, the Marina di Pisa Carnival chose fairy tales as its theme: the seafront transformed into an enchanted world populated by characters from the most beloved stories, from the classic Snow White to Peter Pan and Harry Potter. The costumes were designed and created in collaboration with the Niccolรฒ Pisano Comprehensive Institute of Marina di Pisa, with a unique proposal for each class.

Due to bad weather forecast for February 8, the originally scheduled date, the event was postponed and successfully held on Sunday, February 22, favored by good weather and a large turnout.
