The Marianopoli Carnival

The Marianopoli Carnival is the most anticipated annual event in this small town of just under two thousand inhabitants, nestled at an altitude of approximately 720 meters in the heart of the Caltanissetta province, Sicily. For a few days around Shrove Tuesday, the streets and squares of the historic center transform into an open-air stage filled with masks, confetti, streamers, and music.

The Parade and Allegorical Floats

The highlight of the festival is the masked parade through the town streets, featuring allegorical floats and costumed groups dancing through the village. Local tradition dictates that the floats are built by the town's young volunteers, a sign of a festival built from the ground up and deeply rooted in the community.
