About Marcialonga Cycling

Marcialonga Cycling Craft is the premier road cycling granfondo that transforms Predazzo, in the Val di Fiemme, into the capital of Dolomite cycling every late May. Two challenging routes—the 80 km mediofondo and the 135 km granfondo—take participants over the most iconic passes of the Trentino Dolomites: Costalunga, Pampeago, San Pellegrino, and Valles. An international event blending sport, breathtaking scenery, and the warm hospitality of the Val di Fiemme.

The Dolomite Granfondo of Predazzo

The Marcialonga Cycling Craft is one of the most beloved road cycling granfondos in the Alps. Starting and finishing in Predazzo, in the heart of the Val di Fiemme in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), the event attracts around 1,500 enthusiasts from all over Europe every year. Organized by the Marcialonga Committee—the same team behind the famous winter cross-country ski race—this cycling event has become a staple of late May, perfectly balancing athletic challenge with the stunning beauty of the Dolomites.

Two routes across the great passes

Participants can choose between two demanding tracks that wind through the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa:

  • Mediofondo: 80 km with approximately 2,450 meters of elevation gain, featuring the climbs of Passo Costalunga (9.7 km at an average 4.6% gradient) and the grueling Passo Pampeago (13.9 km at 7.6% with peaks exceeding 14%).
  • Granfondo: 135 km with a massive 3,900 meters of elevation gain, adding the Passo San Pellegrino (12.1 km at 6.2%) and Passo Valles (7.1 km at 8.6% with peaks over 16%) to the route. The latter is the shortest but steepest climb, offering views of the Pale di San Martino and a final descent through the ancient forests of the Paneveggio Natural Park.

The route passes through charming villages such as Moena, the "Fairy of the Dolomites," San Giovanni di Fassa, Tesero, Panchià, and Ziano, in a succession of alpine landscapes that make the race as tough as it is picturesque.

A full weekend of cycling

Marcialonga Cycling Craft is more than just a Sunday race; it is a weekend entirely dedicated to two wheels. The preceding Saturday features the Marcialonga Bike Experience, designed for gravel, e-bike, and mountain bike enthusiasts with three routes of varying difficulty, while children up to 12 can join the Minicycling, a skills gymkhana in the center of Predazzo with age-based categories. The event concludes with initiatives like "Fiemme Car-Free," a day with roads closed to traffic and opened to cyclists and pedestrians.

An event in the heart of Trentino

Marcialonga Cycling Craft represents a unique opportunity to discover the Val di Fiemme and the Trentino Dolomites by bike. Between the warmth of local hospitality, the post-race Pasta Party, and the awards ceremony, the event embodies the sporting and convivial spirit that has made the Marcialonga brand famous throughout the Municipality of Predazzo and the entire Trentino-Alto Adige region.
