High-altitude jazz and world music concerts in the Fassa Dolomites
Val di Fassa Panorama Music is one of the most original music festivals in Trentino: a widespread event that transforms the meadows, mountain huts, and squares of the Val di Fassa into natural stages. The concerts are held at high altitudes, reachable by ski lifts or on foot, or in the valley's villages, offering the rare experience of listening to live music while gazing at the peaks of the Catinaccio, Marmolada, and Sella groups.
The event spans several municipalities in the valley and finds one of its iconic locations in the territory of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan: the Rifugio Ciampedie, above Vigo di Fassa, hosts some of the most evocative panoramic concerts on the program.
The common thread of the festival is the encounter between the cultures of minority language communities: from Ladinia to Catalonia, from Sardinia to Friuli and South Tyrol, artists bring different languages, traditions, and sounds to the mountains. The program ranges from contemporary jazz to world music, from folk to singer-songwriter music, and from black music to experimentation, in a continuous dialogue between local roots and an international spirit.
In addition to Rifugio Ciampedie, festival locations include the Music Club La Grenz in Moena, Piazza de Sotegrava, Chalet Valbona on the Lusia, Baita Paradiso, and Rifugio Fuciade at Passo San Pellegrino. Many concerts take place during the day, outdoors, combining music with hiking and outdoor activities; evenings continue in the indoor spaces of the La Grenz club.
Val di Fassa Panorama Music is organized by the Associazione La Grenz a.p.s., with the collaboration of the valley's lift companies and the support of the Val di Fassa Tourist Board. The festival, rooted in the Autonomous Province of Trento and the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, has become a staple of the Fassa summer, successfully combining regional promotion, the enhancement of cultural minorities, and high artistic quality. Concerts are free; participants are responsible for the cost of ski lifts.
The 2026 festival opens on July 4 at the Music Club La Grenz in Moena with the Friulian trio Scutigera and continues until September 25. At Rifugio Ciampedie, above Vigo di Fassa in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, two key events will be held: on July 12, the Barcelona World's Music Ensemble, and on August 23, the Mustras project, inspired by Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities".
Other concerts on the bill include: the Alessandro Lanzoni Organ Trio (July 14, La Grenz), the Evi Mair Olimpus Band (July 26, Piazza de Sotegrava), the Lia Sampai Band from Catalonia (July 30), Mexican pianist Fernando Diaz (August 12-13), Elsa Martin with Vox Humana (August 22), the Jugendbigband Südtirol (August 30), Letizia Onorati with Americas (September 5), and the Loris Vescovo project at Rifugio Fuciade (September 19).
All concerts are free; participants are responsible for the cost of ski lifts. Entry to the Music Club La Grenz is free with an ARCI membership card. The festival is organized by the Associazione La Grenz a.p.s.
