I Suoni delle Dolomiti is one of the most iconic and beloved festivals of the Trentino summer: a series of open-air concerts held among high-altitude meadows, mountain huts, and alpine shelters, often accessible only on foot. In the Primiero San Martino di Castrozza area, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), the festival finds some of its most evocative settings, right at the foot of the unmistakable spires of the Pale di San Martino.

The festival philosophy

Here, the journey is part of the performance: before the concert, we walk together along trails of varying difficulty to reach the stage. There are no massive stages or barriers: musicians and the audience share the same space, immersed in the landscape, with the Dolomite peaks acting as a backdrop. The repertoire ranges from classical music to jazz, from singer-songwriter tracks to world music, in a continuous dialogue between sound and nature.

The locations of Primiero

In the district of San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero, Vanoi, and Sagron Mis, the concerts bring to life corners of rare beauty:

• Prati Col, in San Martino di Castrozza, a panoramic meadow overlooking the spires of Cimon della Pala and Sass Maor;
• Villa Welsperg, a historic residence in the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park, at the entrance to Val Canali, one of the wildest and most fascinating valleys in Trentino;
• Sagron Mis, a small mountain village where music reaches silent and secluded corners.

Trekking of Sounds

Alongside the free concerts, the festival offers the Trekking of Sounds: an exclusive multi-day experience where the audience and musicians walk together, bringing chamber music along the trails of the Pale di San Martino. This is the only ticketed event on the program, with limited spots and guidance from alpine guides.

An unmissable event

Organized by Trentino Marketing in collaboration with the Tourist Board of San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero, and Vanoi, the festival has become one of the most defining moments of late summer in Trentino. Listening to a concert at dawn or midday under the Pale di San Martino, after hiking through woods and pastures, is an emotion that uniquely blends culture, nature, and sport.
