The cultural summer of the Sipontine city, between the castle, the sea, and archaeology
The Manfredonia Festival is the main cultural hub of the summer in the Municipality of Manfredonia, in the province of Foggia, within the Gargano and the wider Capitanata area of Puglia. Established in 1995 and consolidated over the years as a signature event of the Sipontine city, the festival brings together dozens of events under a single banner, running from late June to late August, transforming squares, historic courtyards, the castle, and the seaside into open-air stages.
The strength of the Manfredonia Festival lies in its widespread and transversal nature: not just a single event, but an entire calendar that weaves together different genres and audiences. Throughout the summer, the schedule alternates between concerts, jazz festivals, classical and opera music appointments, theater and dance performances, film screenings, book presentations, art exhibitions, workshops for young people, and food and wine evenings linked to the local maritime and Sipontine traditions.
The festival enhances the historical and landscape heritage of Manfredonia. The Svevo-Angioino Castle, the Siponto Archaeological Park with its famous basilica, the Cloister of Palazzo San Domenico, the Lucio Dalla Municipal Theater, the seafront, the tourist port, and the historic center host the performances, while the districts of Siponto and Montagna are involved to bring culture outside the city center.
Supported by the Municipal Administration of Manfredonia, the festival is designed as a tool for community cohesion and a tourist attraction for the Gargano summer. The vast majority of the events are free and open to the public, with the goal of making culture accessible to residents and visitors alike. For those spending their holidays on the Apulian coast, the Manfredonia Festival represents an authentic way to experience summer evenings amidst history, the sea, and entertainment.
The Manfredonia Festival 2026 offers a long and varied summer, opening on June 21 with the initiative at the Municipal Villa and continuing until the grand final concert on August 27. The Municipal Council has allocated over 207,000 euros to the event, confirming the festival's role as the main cultural hub of the Sipontine city.
The edition's highlights include the Siponto Street Fest, the Il Palco all'Opera series at the Svevo-Angioino Castle, the danziAMO dance festival, the Manfredonia Classica piano series at the Siponto Archaeological Park, the Manfredonia Jazz Festival, the Rive d'Autore singer-songwriter series, the Corto & Cultura Film Festival, and the Leggere Manfredonia literary meetings. The calendar also includes special evenings such as the White Night, the Night of San Lorenzo, Ferragosto, and the food and wine event Mangiamare.
Announced guests for the various series include names such as Francesco Baccini, Neri per Caso, and Mario Venuti in the singer-songwriter section.
Manfredonia can be reached by car from the A14 motorway (Foggia exit), continuing along the SS89 towards Gargano. The reference railway station is Foggia, connected to Manfredonia by bus lines. The nearest airport is Bari-Palese.
The events take place in multiple locations across the city: Svevo-Angioino Castle, Siponto Archaeological Park, Cloister of Palazzo San Domenico, Lucio Dalla Municipal Theater, Largo Diomede, the seafront, and the historic center.
Most events are free of charge. Some special performances may require tickets or reservations: it is recommended to check the official program published by the Municipality of Manfredonia.
