About Manfredonia Classica

Manfredonia Classica is the Gargano's premier piano festival, bringing world-class classical music to the region's most evocative settings: the Siponto Archaeological Park and the Swabian-Angevin-Aragonese Castle. Promoted by the Ars Musica Apuliæ association as part of the Gargano State of Music project, the festival weaves together piano recitals and symphonic concerts under the stars, featuring a repertoire ranging from Bach and Beethoven to Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. It serves as a bridge between the historical heritage of Manfredonia, in the province of Foggia, and the excellence of the Umberto Giordano Conservatory.

A piano festival at the foot of the Gargano

Established in 2025, Manfredonia Classica is a piano festival that every July transforms some of the most fascinating spots in Manfredonia, in the province of Foggia, into open-air concert halls. The concept is simple yet powerful: taking the great piano repertoire out of traditional theaters and into the Paleochristian ruins of the Siponto Archaeological Park and the walls of the Swabian-Angevin-Aragonese Castle, creating a dialogue between music and the historical and archaeological heritage of the Gulf of Manfredonia.

The team behind the project

The festival is promoted by the Ars Musica Apuliæ association as part of the broader Gargano State of Music project, conceived by local pianist Osvaldo Fatone alongside his colleagues Giorgio Trione Bartoli and Angelo Nasuto, all of whom are associated with the Umberto Giordano Conservatory of Foggia. The stated goal is to promote musical culture through concerts, educational activities, and artistic projects, showcasing local talent while building a bridge between the Gargano area and contemporary musical excellence.

Between recitals and grand orchestras

The heart of the festival lies in the evening piano recitals at the Siponto Archaeological Park, featuring renowned performers and piano professors playing works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev. The festival culminates in a grand symphonic concert at the Castle, the highlight of the program, where the intimate nature of the piano meets the power of a full orchestra.

Why it's worth the trip

  • Concerts in unique settings: the Paleochristian basilica of Siponto and the Castle of Manfredonia.
  • A program that unites the cornerstones of the piano and symphonic repertoire.
  • A young but well-established festival, part of the summer Manfredonia Festival calendar.
  • Evening atmosphere under the stars, just a stone's throw from the Gargano sea.

Manfredonia Classica is a key part of the Apulian city's rich summer cultural scene and represents an unmissable event for classical music lovers vacationing in Puglia.

Manfredonia Classica — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Manfredonia Classica, the second piano festival and the fourth of the Gargano State of Music project, spans four evenings: three recitals at the Siponto Archaeological Park (July 10, 11, and 12) and, as a major new feature, a final symphonic concert at the Swabian-Angevin-Aragonese Castle on July 16, featuring the Symphony Orchestra of the Umberto Giordano Conservatory.

The Manfredonia Classica '26 festival returns to Manfredonia from July 10 to 16, 2026, with four events. The first three, scheduled for July 10, 11, and 12, will be held in the evocative Siponto Archaeological Park; the main novelty of this edition is the closing concert on July 16 in the setting of the Swabian-Angevin-Aragonese Castle. The initiative is promoted by the Ars Musica Apuliæ association under the artistic direction of Maestro Osvaldo Fatone, a piano professor at the Umberto Giordano Conservatory of Foggia.
