Books, theatre, and concerts for a women-focused summer in Marsala
Malìa e Incanto is the summer cultural festival that brings Marsala to life in the heart of the Trapani province, Sicily. Born from an idea by Luana Rondinelli and Gregorio Caimi and promoted by the Officina artistica Carpe Diem, the event combines the beauty of its venues with the art of language and music, transforming the Marsala summer into a magical oasis.
The festival focuses on women's voices, stories, and talents: writers, actresses, and musicians alternate in a programme that spans literature, drama, and music. From book presentations to theatrical premieres, and concerts exploring Sicilian identity and the great figures of singer-songwriters, every event offers a unique perspective on the female universe.
Events take place in three characteristic spaces in Marsala: the Terrazza Carpe Diem, the Giardino di Assud, and the Opifici Bianchi. These intimate and evocative settings, often overlooking greenery and the sea with the silhouettes of the Egadi Islands in the background, make every evening an immersive experience at sunset.
Between poetic readings, re-interpretations of classics like Ariosto's Angelica, and tributes to icons of Italian music, Malìa e Incanto blends roots with contemporary flair. The festival is now a highly anticipated fixture in Marsala's summer calendar, enhancing the local artistic scene and engaging with the rich cultural tradition of Western Sicily.
With free admission for some literary meetings and affordable tickets for concerts, the event aims to reach a broad and attentive audience, eager to enjoy high-quality evenings in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere in the centre of Marsala.
The second edition of Malìa e Incanto, promoted by the Officina artistica Carpe Diem and conceived by Luana Rondinelli and Gregorio Caimi, brings six events to Marsala from June 26th to July 16th, 2026. The programme weaves together book presentations, theatrical premieres, and concerts, with a distinctly feminine common thread.
It opens with literature and closes with music, spanning the Terrazza Carpe Diem, the Giardino di Assud, and the Opifici Bianchi. Among the most anticipated moments are the tribute to Ornella Vanoni and the concert "Radica" by Francesca Incudine, a musical journey into Sicilian identity.
Events are held between the Terrazza Carpe Diem, the Giardino di Assud, and the Opifici Bianchi in Marsala (TP). The Officina artistica Carpe Diem headquarters is at Via Armando Diaz 2.
Book presentations are generally free to attend; concert tickets range from 12 to 18 euros plus booking fees. Tickets are available at the Carpe Diem office and authorized sales points.
Marsala is accessible by car via the A29 (Mazara/Marsala exit) and by train via the Marsala station on the Trapani–Palermo line. The nearest airport is Trapani-Birgi, just a few kilometres away.
