Two days of crime fiction, mystery, and noir literature amidst the ruins of Lilibeo
The Marsala Noir Festival is a literary event dedicated to crime, noir, and investigative fiction, held in Marsala, in the province of Trapani, Sicily. The festival has chosen the Lilibeo Archaeological Park as its natural home, one of the city's most fascinating sites: the ancient Punic-Roman ruins overlooking the sea provide the perfect backdrop for tales of mystery, shadows, and hidden truths.
The festival was born from an idea by Gaspare Grammatico and the artistic direction of journalist Cristina Marra. Over two days, established writers, emerging authors, criminologists, lawyers, and magistrates take the stage to discuss noir narrative, true crime, and the thin line between fiction and reality. The sessions weave together book presentations, reflections on judicial dynamics, and criminological insights, offering the audience a comprehensive look at the genre.
The events take place in the evocative Honor Frost Hall of the Archaeological Park, which also houses the famous Punic ship of Marsala. The dialogue between the city's archaeological heritage and mystery storytelling is a hallmark of the event, blending cultural outreach, local promotion, and quality entertainment. The program is further enriched by musical interludes performed by Maestro Gino De Vita.
Promoted by the Sicilian Region – Department of Cultural Heritage, organized by the Laguna dello Stagnone and Marsala Tourist Consortium, produced by Peralta Production, and supported by the Free Municipal Consortium of Trapani, the Marsala Noir Festival offers free admission. Since its first edition, it has established itself as a highly anticipated event for genre enthusiasts and those eager to discover Marsala from a unique perspective.
The Marsala Noir Festival returns for its second edition on October 30 and 31, 2026, once again hosted at the Lilibeo Archaeological Park in Marsala. Following the previous year's debut, which was warmly received by the public, artistic director Cristina Marra has announced a richer edition featuring new sections and an original soundtrack composed by Maestro Gino De Vita.
The complete lineup of guests and presentations will be revealed in the weeks preceding the event. As with the first edition, admission to all activities will be free.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published: check back on this page to discover the writers, criminologists, and scheduled discussions.
