Likof: the toast of the Collio

In Slovenian tradition, likof is the convivial banquet held at the end of an important job, such as building a house or finishing the grape harvest. It is from this spirit of peasant celebration that the event in San Floriano del Collio (Števerjan in Slovenian) takes its name. This village in the Gorizia area overlooks the border with Slovenia, in the heart of the Italian Collio.

A tradition rooted in centuries past

The event is organized by the Vinoteka association, founded in 2006 from the collaboration between wine producers from San Floriano del Collio and Oslavia. Its roots, however, are even older, stemming from a winemakers' confraternity documented as early as 1482: a continuity that speaks to the enological vocation of this land of hills, vineyards, and historic cellars.

Tastings, dinners in the vineyards, and local products

Likof is, first and foremost, a celebration of Collio wine: from guided tastings in the vineyards at sunset to evocative dinners among the vines, in direct contact with the rows. Alongside the glasses, you'll find typical and homemade products from the region, show cooking, and meetings with producers who open the doors of their cellars.

Music and celebration in the square

The inauguration takes place in Piazza Libertà in San Floriano del Collio, the heart of the event, enlivened by live music and entertainment. Bilingual Italian-Slovenian, Likof is the perfect synthesis of a border culture where wine is a common language and a shared celebration, in the municipality of the province of Gorizia.
