About Library Festival

The Library Festival in Tarantasca, in the province of Cuneo, is a weekend celebrating reading, imagination, and the joy of coming together around books. Organized by the Gli Amici della Biblioteca group in partnership with the Municipality, it features special library opening hours, read-aloud sessions for children, and creative workshops at the T-Centro. Two days designed for families and young people, concluding with a snack provided for all participants.

The festival that puts books at the heart of the town

In Tarantasca, a small town in the Cuneo plains of Piedmont, the Library Festival is a spring event that turns reading into a community experience. Promoted by the Gli Amici della Biblioteca volunteer group together with the Municipality of Tarantasca, the event is dedicated to books, stories, and imagination, with a special focus on children and families.

Two days dedicated to reading

The program spans an entire weekend. The first day is dedicated to the special opening of the library: an opportunity to explore the facility's collection, discover new arrivals, and meet the volunteers who keep this local hub alive every year. The second day moves to the T-Centro, the new multipurpose space for young people and families inaugurated on Via Pino Isasca, where read-aloud sessions and creative workshops take place.

Readings and workshops for the little ones

The heart of the festival lies in activities for children: animated readings led by guests from the world of children's publishing and a creative workshop that invites children to play with words and letters. The day concludes with a snack offered by the Municipality and the library, in the convivial spirit that characterizes Piedmontese village festivals.

A volunteer-driven reality

Behind the Library Festival is the passionate work of the Gli Amici della Biblioteca group, which organizes trips, meetings, and initiatives throughout the year to bring adults and children closer to reading. The festival is the moment when this activity becomes visible to the whole town, reminding us how a small municipal library can be a cultural landmark for the entire community of the Province of Cuneo.
