Cuneo's literary festival dedicated to books, ideas, and encounters
Every November, scrittorincittà transforms Cuneo into a vast space dedicated to reading and thought. The festival, organized by the Municipality of Cuneo in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, is one of the most beloved and well-attended cultural events in the provincial capital, drawing a large audience from across Piedmont and beyond. For nearly thirty years, it has guided readers of all ages on a journey through words, stories, and questions.
The hallmark of scrittorincittà is its annual theme—a keyword that weaves through the entire program, providing unity to presentations, dialogues, and workshops. Following the 2025 theme "Circles," the 28th edition in 2026 revolves around the theme "Windows": windows as a boundary between the outside and the inside, as a metaphor for the gaze observing the world while on the move, and—in the spirit of the festival—as an image of the book itself, the "most beautiful window of all." A reflection on where we are going and what we watch as we travel.
Each edition brings dozens of cultural voices to Cuneo: writers, journalists, illustrators, publishers, and international guests. Past editions have welcomed renowned authors alongside prominent foreign novelists, in a packed schedule of over two hundred meetings held in various venues across the city center. The festival also pays great attention to younger audiences, with a calendar of events designed for families and hundreds of sessions reserved for schools.
Events take place in various locations in the center of Cuneo, including the Provincial Meeting Center, Palazzo Santa Croce, Sala San Giovanni, and other cultural spaces in the city. This widespread distribution makes the festival an experience that engages the entire city, leading visitors from one hall to another along the streets and squares of the historic center.
Most events are free to attend, though booking is often recommended due to high demand; some special events may require a ticket. The full program for the 28th edition is announced in the weeks leading up to the festival, typically in October.
The 28th edition of scrittorincittà, scheduled in Cuneo from November 11 to 15, 2026, is dedicated to the theme "Windows". The festival starts with two questions: where are we going and, above all, what are we looking at while we move? Windows thus become the boundary between the outside and the inside, and the book the most beautiful image of this gaze upon the world. As every year, the festival will offer over two hundred events including presentations, dialogues, and workshops, with ample space dedicated to families and schools.
The detailed program of the 28th edition, with the complete list of guests and times, is announced in the weeks preceding the event, usually in October 2026. It will be published on the official website scrittorincitta.it.
