The Lesegno District Palio

In the heart of the Monregalese area, in the Province of Cuneo, the small town of Lesegno celebrates one of its most cherished traditions every May: the District Palio. For about two weeks, the town both divides and unites, sparking a friendly competition between its four historic districts. It is a village festival in the truest sense, capable of mobilizing entire families and strengthening the bonds of the Piedmontese community.

The four competing districts

The event features the districts of Borio, Centro, Periferia, and Prata. Each district fields its residents in a series of point-based challenges: the one with the highest score wins the Palio. The rivalry is purely for show, as the spirit driving the festival is one of togetherness and shared fun.

Games, treasure hunts, and Spazzamondo

The program includes numerous evenings dedicated to games and various treasure hunts, which are among the most anticipated moments of the entire event. In recent years, the Spazzamondo initiative, promoted by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo and dedicated to civic duty and environmental care, has become part of the competition: a day where the districts compete by collecting litter and caring for the town's common spaces.

A festival for the whole community

The Palio traditionally concludes with a grand social gathering: a lunch open to participants, volunteers, and families, prepared by the Lesegno Pro Loco together with local associations. It is the perfect occasion to announce the winning district and look forward to the next edition. The event is managed by the Lesegno Pro Loco, supported by the Ras Cia Cune association and local entities, a sign of the vibrant associational life that keeps this tradition alive in the town of Lesegno and throughout the Piedmont Region.
