A three-day festival held under a large heated marquee, featuring a menu entirely dedicated to the prized Piedmontese cattle breed—from hand-cut raw beef to tagliata—accompanied by local farm-to-table products and evenings of magic and conviviality.

In the heart of the Asti Monferrato, the small hamlet of Savi in Villanova d'Asti (Province of Asti, Piedmont) hosts one of the most popular gastronomic events in the region every spring: Le Delizie del Fassone. The event is passionately organized by the Pro Loco Amici dei Savi, led by Maria Teresa Cabutto, and revolves entirely around Fassone, the prized Piedmontese cattle breed that represents one of the region's top culinary excellences.

Fassone, a Piedmontese excellence

Fassone is a variety of Piedmontese cattle characterized by particularly developed musculature, which gives the meat extraordinary tenderness and a low fat percentage. It is the ideal raw material for the most beloved dish among Piedmontese people: hand-cut raw beef, simply seasoned with oil, salt, and lemon. At the Savi festival, this specialty opens the menu, followed by numerous other dishes that showcase the versatility of this meat.

A fully farm-to-table menu

The Pro Loco kitchen offers dishes made with local products or carefully selected from local businesses. Featured dishes include:

  • Hand-cut Fassone raw beef
  • Fassone tagliata and veal rib steak
  • Fassone burger
  • Albese beef cascade with parmesan shavings
  • Fassonetto platter and tomini cheese with honey and Piedmontese hazelnuts

The event takes place under a large, fully heated marquee, recently renovated by the Pro Loco thanks to a regional grant that allowed for the replacement of all covers and the reinforcement of the structure, ensuring the evenings can proceed in any weather condition. Dinners are enlivened by Mago Diesel, who entertains guests with magic tricks and illusions while moving directly between the tables, providing moments of wonder for both adults and children.

A community celebration

Le Delizie del Fassone is much more than a food festival: it is an appointment that brings together the community of the Savi hamlet and visitors from neighboring towns in a typically Piedmontese convivial atmosphere. The success of the event, which earns the approval of the general public year after year, is the result of the voluntary work of the Pro Loco members, true guardians of the village's traditions.

Le Delizie del Fassone — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Le Delizie del Fassone took place from April 24 to 26 in the Savi hamlet of Villanova d'Asti, with three days of celebration under the heated marquee. Friday and Saturday dinners from 7:00 PM and Sunday lunch from 12:00 PM, featuring a menu entirely dedicated to Piedmontese Fassone beef and the unmissable entertainment of Mago Diesel.

The 2026 edition confirmed the success of the event, with an influx of visitors from the Savi hamlet and the towns of the Asti Monferrato. The Pro Loco Amici dei Savi offered the classic Fassone-based menu, enriched with some new additions.

Among the most appreciated dishes were the grissinopoli, a large breaded cutlet served inside Piedmontese breadsticks, and the tongue in Sandra's special sauce, a tribute to a Pro Loco cook. The evenings were enlivened by Mago Diesel with his magic tricks between the tables.
