Every winter, the historic center of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont, is transformed by The Magical Christmas Village, one of Italy's most beloved and visited festive events. Set up primarily in Piazza Alfieri, the market hosts over 130 wooden chalets where artisans, hobbyists, and local producers offer decorations, gift ideas, regional food and wine specialties, and street food. The atmosphere, filled with lights, scents, and music, has earned the event a spot in the Top Ten of Europe's best Christmas markets according to European Best Destinations, as well as the title of the most fairytale-like market on the continent.

An event spread across Asti, Govone, and the Langhe

The Magical Christmas Village is more than just a market: it is a true Christmas circuit involving several towns in the Province of Asti and the Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero regions. Beyond Asti, the fairytale magic lights up in Govone, around the Royal Castle of the Savoy, featuring Santa's House, the Elf Academy, and family shows; in San Damiano d'Asti, a charming living nativity scene comes to life in the cellars and courtyards of the town center. This collective dimension makes the event an ideal destination for a weekend of traditions, gastronomy, and the landscapes of the UNESCO-listed hills.

Attractions and atmosphere

Among the most popular attractions are the large 35-meter Ferris wheel, offering a panoramic view of the illuminated city, and the ice-skating rink located in Piazza Statuto.
