About Borgo Natale

Every year, on the weekends leading up to Christmas, the ancient medieval village of Casertavecchia transforms into a charming Christmas village. Borgo Natale brings the stone alleys and the Cathedral square to life with scattered markets, artisan crafts, artistic nativity scenes, and a rich food and wine trail dedicated to traditional products from the Campania region. Featuring street food, folk music, children's entertainment, and the fairy-tale atmosphere of the illuminated Cathedral, it is one of the most beloved Christmas destinations in the province of Caserta, with free admission.

Borgo Natale: Christmas in the ancient village of Casertavecchia

Perched on the Tifatini Mountains, the medieval village of Casertavecchia, a hamlet of the municipality of Caserta, becomes the setting for Borgo Natale every December, one of the most fascinating Christmas markets in Campania. On the weekends leading up to the holidays, the stone-paved alleys, the famous Romanesque Cathedral, and the small squares light up with lights, scents, and music, offering visitors an atmosphere suspended in time.

Scattered markets through the alleys

The event is organized as a scattered market: wooden stalls and exhibition spaces are distributed along the village streets, offering local crafts, ceramics, Christmas decorations, artistic nativity scenes, liqueurs, and traditional sweets. Every corner becomes an opportunity to discover the work of artisans and the excellence of the Caserta area.

The food and wine trail

The beating heart of Borgo Natale is the food and wine trail that guides visitors through the flavors of Campania: street food, typical products, cheeses, cured meats, Christmas sweets, and local specialties to enjoy while strolling. A culinary itinerary designed to showcase the produce of the province of Caserta and the region's rural hospitality.

Shows, music, and entertainment

The program combines shopping and entertainment with street performances, folk music, children's entertainment, and theater. Artists, storytellers, and traditional folk bands alternate through the village streets, while the Cathedral provides a backdrop for evocative initiatives such as candlelight evenings. The arrival of Santa Claus and workshops for the little ones make the event an ideal destination for families.

A village to experience

Visiting Borgo Natale also means rediscovering one of the most beautiful historic centers in Campania: the Cathedral of San Michele Arcangelo, the castle tower, and the maze of medieval alleys offer unforgettable views, made even more magical under the Christmas lights. Admission is free and the event involves the associations and businesses of the village, in the heart of the Caserta territory.
