Rotello, land of oil
In Rotello, a village in the lower Molise region, in the province of Campobasso, near the border with Puglia, olive growing is an ancient vocation and extra virgin olive oil is the true treasure of the area. Every autumn, after harvesting and pressing, the Festival of New Oil celebrates the green gold of these hills: the freshly pressed oil, intense and fragrant, to be savoured in its most genuine form.
A feast of autumn flavours
The festival offers the classic tasting of the new oil on warm bruschetta and paired with traditional Molise peasant dishes. It is an opportunity to learn about the work of the local pressers and producers and to discover the qualities of an oil that tells the story of the deep bond between Rotello and its land.
Taste and spectacle
The event is enhanced by a fireworks display that lights up the village's autumn evenings, a combination of gastronomy and popular celebration that ideally concludes the olive oil year and brings together the community of lower Molise.
Festival of New Oil — edition 2026
In 2026, Rotello will again host the Festival of New Oil in November, dedicated to freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil. Tastings on warm bruschetta, traditional Molise dishes, and the fireworks display will once again animate the village in lower Molise.
