Abruzzo-Marche Federal Interregional Freestyle Roller Cross Championship
The Lanciano Inline Roller Games are the event bringing roller skating back to the heart of the sporting life in Lanciano, in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. The event hosts the 1st Abruzzo-Marche Federal Interregional Freestyle Roller Cross Championship, a competition gathering clubs and athletes from both Adriatic regions on the track at Parco Villa delle Rose.
Roller cross is a spectacular inline skating discipline: athletes challenge each other on a technical course featuring curves, obstacles, and rhythm changes, where speed, balance, and the ability to read the race are key. In Lanciano, every skater faces a timed qualification that determines access to the subsequent rounds, with no repechage, in a tight format that keeps tension high until the awards ceremony.
The day involves all age groups recognized by the federation, in a truly intergenerational event:
Participation is open to both men and women, with over one hundred athletes expected from across Abruzzo and the Marche region.
The event is linked to the Roller Skate Park project at Parco Villa delle Rose, born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Lanciano and the Wildlife School ASD Lanciano. The redevelopment of the track, featuring fixed ramps and a freestyle course, has returned a permanent space for skating sports to the city, freely accessible to the community. The Lanciano Inline Roller Games represent its competitive debut and a symbol of the city's movement revival after years of inactivity.
The event is part of the Lanciano Cultura 2026 program and the "Month of Culture" promoted by the municipal administration, confirming how grassroots sport is an integral part of the cultural and social offering of the city. A free, family-friendly day that combines federal competition with a local festival in one of Lanciano's most beloved parks.
The first edition of the Lanciano Inline Roller Games took place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Parco Villa delle Rose track. The day's program included athlete accreditation from 8:30 AM, warm-up at 9:00 AM, the start of races at 9:30 AM, and the awards ceremony around 12:00 PM.
The competition, held as the 1st Abruzzo-Marche Federal Interregional Freestyle Roller Cross Championship, brought together over a hundred athletes from both regions, divided into all federal categories from youth to masters. The event inaugurated the new phase of the city's Roller Skate Park, managed by the Wildlife School ASD Lanciano in collaboration with the Municipality.
