The grand motor event in the heart of the Val di Sangro
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Italian Motor Week is the national week dedicated to engines, promoted by the Città dei Motori (Cities of Engines) network, an ANCI association that brings together Italian municipalities with a strong automotive vocation. In Atessa, in the province of Chieti (Abruzzo), the event has found one of its most vibrant stages: the Val di Sangro town is a true automotive industrial district, home to the Stellantis plant (formerly Sevel, the largest European facility for light commercial vehicles) and Honda Italia Industriale.
The presence of these major production hubs has made Atessa part of the Città dei Motori network, a national circuit that promotes motor culture as a lever for tourism and regional development. During the event, the squares of the historic center, particularly Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Oberdan, come alive with vintage car and motorcycle rallies, exhibitions, sports demonstrations, and activities for both adults and children.
The Abruzzo program combines the spectacle of engines with entertainment and local culture. Among the most popular attractions are go-kart demonstrations, mini-motorcycle riding courses designed for younger enthusiasts, Fiat 500 and vintage car rallies, parades through the city streets, and guided tours of the Stellantis and Honda plants, a unique opportunity to discover the production excellence of the Val di Sangro up close. There is also live music and conferences dedicated to motor tourism, such as the one hosted at the Val di Sangro Expo.
Thanks to the free and widespread nature of the events, the Italian Motor Week in Atessa attracts thousands of enthusiasts and families from all over Abruzzo and beyond every year, confirming the city's role as a regional benchmark for motor tourism.
The fourth edition of Italian Motor Week will be held throughout Italy from September 19 to 27, 2026, with over one hundred events organized by the municipalities of the Città dei Motori network. Atessa has hosted previous editions with great public success, but the dates and program for the 2026 edition in Atessa have not yet been announced. The local calendar, featuring vintage car and motorcycle rallies, sports demonstrations, and visits to the Stellantis and Honda plants, will be communicated by the Municipality of Atessa in the weeks leading up to the event.
Events are held in the historic center of Atessa (Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Oberdan, and surrounding streets) and at the Val di Sangro Expo, in the province of Chieti.
Atessa can be reached via the A14 motorway (Val di Sangro / Atessa exit) and the Fondovalle Sangro road. The reference railway station is Vasto-San Salvo, connected to the town center by local bus lines.
Most activities are free and open to the public. Guided tours of the plants may require booking.
