The Gargano event dedicated to rosé wines
La Vieste en Rose is the food and wine festival that, every year in early June, makes Vieste the Italian capital of rosé wine. In the heart of the Gargano, at the eastern tip of the province of Foggia, this seaside village opens the summer season with an event that combines wine culture, landscape, and Apulian hospitality, attracting enthusiasts, industry professionals, and curious visitors from all over Italy.
The stage for the festival is the historic center of Vieste, one of the most picturesque villages on the Adriatic. For the occasion, the whitewashed alleys, staircases, and small squares overlooking the sea come alive with themed decorations, soft lighting, and tasting counters: you can stroll with a glass in hand, discovering, corner after corner, the thousand shades of rosé and the beauty of the old town.
The heart of the event is the tasting counters, which bring together dozens of Apulian, Italian, and international wineries. Alongside open tastings, there is a packed program of masterclasses, seminars, and talks led by oenologists, experts, and food and wine journalists, designed to showcase grape varieties, territories, and winemaking styles. It is an opportunity to delve into the world of rosé, which has regained prestige and recognition in recent years.
Wine is never alone: a large food area and the involvement of local restaurants offer themed menus and typical products from the Gargano and Apulian regions, creating a perfect pairing between rosé and local cuisine. Olive oil, cheeses, seafood, and land-based specialties complete the tasting experience.
Street performers and live musicians contribute to the unique atmosphere, animating the streets and squares until late, while the grand finale features a concert on the seafront. La Vieste en Rose is thus also a community celebration, capable of bringing together wine tourism, entertainment, and local identity.
Organized by the Municipality of Vieste, the event is now a permanent fixture in the Apulian food and wine calendar and one of the symbolic moments marking the start of the tourist season on the Gargano. Visiting Vieste during these days means combining the discovery of wine with that of a territory made of beaches, cliffs, trabucchi (traditional fishing platforms), and one of the most photographed historic centers in Puglia.
For the 2026 edition, La Vieste en Rose inaugurated a partnership with Gambero Rosso, which curated the selection of rosé wines and technical activities. Sunday, May 31, was dedicated to journalists and professionals, with visits to local wineries; on June 1, the event came to life with a press conference in the council chamber of the Municipality of Vieste, a B2B masterclass reserved for the press, professionals, and restaurateurs, and in the evening, the grand wine tasting open to the public through the alleys of the historic center. About fifty wineries were at the tasting counters, accompanied by a food area with typical Apulian products, street performers, and the final concert at Marina Piccola.
The event takes place in the historic center of Vieste (FG), in Puglia, with the final concert on the Marina Piccola seafront.
By car: Take the Gargano expressway SS693 and SS89 to Vieste. By train: Arrive at Foggia or San Severo station, then take a bus to the Gargano. By plane: Bari-Palese airport (about 2 hours) or Foggia-Gino Lisa airport.
Tastings at the counters require a ticket: the ticket includes the wine glass and can be purchased online (via the TicketSms platform). In recent editions, the event has sold out, so advance purchase is recommended.
High beach season is approaching: book your accommodation in Vieste or the surrounding Gargano area in advance.
