Halloween night in the historic center of Vico del Gargano

The Notte Nera is the event where Vico del Gargano, in the province of Foggia, celebrates Halloween by turning its historic center into a massive open-air stage. The medieval village, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and known as the 'Village of Love', provides the perfect backdrop for the festivities: the labyrinth of alleys, arches, and stone houses of the old town becomes the ideal setting for an evening suspended between charm and mystery.
For one night, local businesses and shops dress up with spooky decorations and sets that evoke the spirit of Halloween. Street performers and live acts roam the alleys, while live music and DJ sets entertain visitors and locals throughout the evening. The event directly involves the commercial activities and local businesses of Vico del Gargano, in a project designed to promote the area and bring the historic center to life even in the off-season.
The Notte Nera is not just for adults: there is plenty of space for children, with the traditional 'Trick or Treat' that leads families through the village alleys in search of sweets and surprises. The event is part of the broader Notte Bianca โ Locali in Movimento program, a series of themed evenings that animate the village throughout the year.
Perched at about 445 meters above sea level on the northeastern side of the Gargano promontory, Vico del Gargano is a small town in Apulia immersed in the Gargano National Park, just a few kilometers from the sea and surrounded by the famous Foresta Umbra. Its historic center, a tangle of narrow streets and alleys including the famous 'Kiss Alley', is considered one of the most evocative in the region. Experiencing the Notte Nera means discovering this authentic village in a different light, when the darkness of late October wraps it in magical atmospheres.
The 2026 edition of the Notte Nera in Vico del Gargano does not yet have an official date. Based on previous editions, the Halloween festival usually returns at the end of October, animating the historic center with themed decorations, street performers, music, and activities for children. Information regarding dates and the program will be updated as soon as it is released by the Municipality of Vico del Gargano and local businesses.
The event takes place in the historic center of Vico del Gargano (FG), in Apulia, throughout the streets and squares of the medieval village.
