About L'AltraMontagna Festival

The L'AltraMontagna Festival arrives in Brentonico for the first time, on the Monte Baldo Plateau, with its "The Flower of Baldo" edition. Promoted by the L'AltraMontagna publication, the festival offers four days of talks, performances, excursions, workshops, book presentations, and concerts dedicated to the High Lands, biodiversity, and climate change. Free admission, set in a territory famous since the 16th century for its extraordinary floral richness, nestled between Lake Garda and the Vallagarina valley.

The festival that tells the story of the mountains through new eyes

The L'AltraMontagna Festival is a cultural event created by the eponymous journalistic publication dedicated to the High Lands. After its first editions held in Rovereto, in 2026 the festival chooses Brentonico, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), for the first time, with an edition titled "The Flower of Baldo". For four days, the Monte Baldo Plateau becomes a meeting place for scientists, writers, mountaineers, artists, and enthusiasts, united by the desire to tell the story of the mountains beyond stereotypes.

Why Brentonico and the Monte Baldo Plateau

The Brentonico Plateau is suspended between Lake Garda and the Vallagarina valley, on the slopes of Monte Baldo. It is a territory that has been studied by botanists since the 16th century for its exceptional floral richness, so much so that it is considered a true garden of Europe. The theme "The Flower of Baldo" celebrates this biodiversity, focusing on the relationship between mountain communities, environmental protection, and climate change.

Festival Venues

  • Palazzo Eccheli-Baisi, a historic 16th-century residence hosting the Park House and the Orto dei Semplici, a Renaissance botanical garden;
  • Teatro Monte Baldo, the heart of the evening performances;
  • Cultural Center and Library of Brentonico, for talks and workshops;
  • Rifugio Baita Fos-Ce (1,430 m), the venue for the concluding high-altitude events.

A multidisciplinary program

The festival weaves together talks and meetings with scientists and writers, theatrical performances, guided excursions to discover the flora of Baldo, workshops for children and adults, book presentations, screenings, and concerts. Great emphasis is placed on the themes of biodiversity, forests, sustainable pastoralism, glaciers, and mountain rescue.

A free and sustainable event

Admission to all events is free, with mandatory booking for performances at the Teatro Monte Baldo and for workshops dedicated to children. The festival has obtained the Eco Eventi del Trentino certification, confirming the focus on environmental sustainability that serves as its guiding principle. The event is organized with the support of the Municipality of Brentonico, Trentino Marketing, and numerous local scientific and cultural partners.
