The Campo Tures Cheese Festival

The Käsefestival (Cheese Festival) in Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers, located in the Ahrntal valley in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol), has become one of the most important dairy events in the entire Alpine region in recent years. For an entire weekend, the town's historic center fills with stalls, aromas, and flavors: it is a true market of taste, as well as a specialized trade fair and a meeting point for enthusiasts, cheesemakers, and restaurateurs.

One hundred producers, one thousand cheeses

The heart of the event is the exhibition: over 100 producers from South Tyrol, Italy, and much of Europe present nearly 1,000 different cheese specialties. Alongside the cheeses, you will find numerous other typical products—chocolate, oil, bread, aromatic herbs, mustard, wine, vinegar, tea, grappa, speck, and yogurt—in a journey that invites you to discover, taste, and purchase the gastronomic excellence of the region and beyond.

More than just stalls: tastings, cooking shows, and children's activities

The program is multifaceted. Live cooking shows feature chefs from the South Tyrolean Chefs' Association (Südtiroler Köcheverband) preparing cheese-based dishes on the spot. Guided tastings, organized in collaboration with Slow Food, offer high-quality tasting experiences. For the little ones, there is a rich children's program with interactive workshops—from cheese and mozzarella production to chocolate making—and blind tastings led by specialized entertainers.

Specialty Weeks

The festival extends beyond the town square to involve the entire territory: during the Specialty Weeks (Spezialitätenwochen), numerous restaurants in Campo Tures, Molini di Tures, Acereto, and the surrounding areas enrich their menus with delicious cheese-based dishes. It is no coincidence that in 2024, Campo Tures was awarded the title of ONAF Cheese City, a recognition that cements its dairy vocation.

Set in the evocative backdrop of the Ahrntal valley, at the foot of the Rieserferner Group and Tures Castle, the Käsefestival is now a permanent fixture in the South Tyrolean gastronomic calendar, attracting visitors and gourmets from across the Alps.
