The Val Casies Oktoberfest in Tesido: Bavarian beer, brass bands, and Böhmische music in South Tyrol
The Taistner Oktoberfest — also known as the Tesido Oktoberfest — is one of the most beloved local festivals in the Val Casies (Gsiesertal), in the upper Puster Valley. It takes place in Tesido (Taisten), a village in the municipality of Monguelfo-Tesido, in the Province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). Conceived and organized by the Musikkapelle Taisten, the local brass band active for over 170 years, the festival has turned the simple concept of "great beer and one hundred percent brass music" into a renowned event celebrated throughout the Puster Valley.
Founded to bring the authentic spirit of the Munich Oktoberfest to the Dolomite mountains, the event offers original Bavarian beer served in traditional steins, accompanied by live brass music, particularly the Böhmische style—the typical Bohemian-Tyrolean repertoire of horns and brass that warms the heart. The setting is the Vereinshaus Taisten, the village community center on Unterrainer Straße, where the marquee and halls fill with people in dirndls and lederhosen, creating a genuine and familiar festive atmosphere.
Alongside the beer steins, the festival offers a wide selection of culinary specialties from South Tyrolean and Bavarian cuisine: sausages, pork knuckle, typical Puster Valley dishes, and traditional desserts, all served by the volunteers of the Tesido community. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the hospitality of the Val Casies combined with the taste of a true Oktoberfest.
More than just a beer festival, the Taistner Oktoberfest is a village celebration that brings together the entire community of Monguelfo-Tesido: musicians, associations, volunteers, and visitors from all over the Puster Valley share three days of music, conviviality, and Tyrolean folk tradition in one of the most picturesque valleys of the South Tyrolean Dolomites.
The Taistner Oktoberfest 2026, now in its 19th edition, takes place from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Vereinshaus Taisten in Tesido (Monguelfo-Tesido), in the Province of Bolzano.
As per tradition, the event organized by the Musikkapelle Taisten will offer the authentic Oktoberfest atmosphere with original Bavarian beer, live brass music, dance evenings, and culinary specialties, as well as an extensive program for children on Sunday. The detailed calendar with times, musical groups, and appointments will be published by the organizers closer to the festival.
