About Bruneck Farmers' Market

Every Friday morning from May to October, farmers from the Puster Valley set up their stalls along the Bastions (Graben) in the heart of Bruneck. Established in 1995, the Bauernmarkt / Bruneck Farmers' Market brings together around fifteen small-scale producers selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, alpine cheese, speck, eggs, bread, honey, jams, and aromatic herbs directly to consumers. A genuine local experience where you get to know the producers by name and shop locally, right in the historic center of this Puster Valley town in South Tyrol.

The farmers' market in the heart of Bruneck

The Bauernmarkt Bruneck, or Bruneck Farmers' Market, is one of the most beloved weekly events in the historic center of this Puster Valley town. Every Friday morning, from May to October, about fifteen local farmers set up their stalls along the Bastions (the Graben), the elegant tree-lined promenade that runs through the heart of Bruneck, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.

A direct-sales tradition since 1995

The market was founded in 1995 by local agricultural producers determined to bring their goods directly to the consumer without intermediaries. Since then, it has become a local institution: the participating farmers are mostly from the Puster Valley, hailing from mountain farms and alpine dairies in the area. Each producer personally guarantees the quality and origin of their goods, in compliance with the food safety standards set by the market itself.

What you will find at the stalls

The hallmark of this market is its absolute seasonality: you won't find out-of-season or imported products, only what the Puster Valley land and dairies offer at that time of year. At the stalls, you can purchase:

  • Seasonal fruit and vegetables: salads, zucchini, tomatoes, and broccoli in summer; apples and potatoes in autumn;
  • Alpine cheeses and mountain butter;
  • Speck, cured meats, and fresh farm-raised meat;
  • Eggs from free-range hens, bread, pasta, and cereals;
  • Honey, homemade jams, fruit syrups, and aromatic herbs;
  • Grappa, wine, and small local artisanal specialties.

An authentic South Tyrolean experience

More than just a market, the Bruneck Bauernmarkt is a meeting point between producers and buyers: you can stop to chat with the farmers, taste the products, and learn to recognize the seasonality of the harvest. It is a genuine way to discover the agricultural tradition of the Puster Valley and the flavors of South Tyrol, immersed in the intimate atmosphere of Bruneck's historic center. During the colder months, from November to April, the market continues in a reduced format as a winter farmers' market.
